Is Leonardo DiCaprio's mom pressuring him to propose to Camila Morrone? That's what one of of the tabloids is reporting. Gossip Cop looked into the claim.
"Leo's Mom Fears He'll Let Great Gal Get Away!" reads a headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer. A supposed source is quoted as saying, "Irmelin loves Camila and sees her as classic daughter-in-law material. She's convinced Leo will drive her away if he doesn't pull the trigger soon."
DiCaprio has been dating the model since 2017, and according to the "insider," his mom believes that's enough time for him to realize "he's found the right girl." The unknown tipster adds, "Irmelin wants grandkids, and she'd like to be able to enjoy them in her golden years, so she's telling Leo to get a move on and marry Camila."
The tabloid's premise is based on the word of an anonymous source. Gossip Cop reached out to DiCaprio's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's made up. The actor's mom simply isn't pressuring him to walk down the aisle with his girlfriend. It's safe to say the actor's rep, who's qualified to speak on his behalf, knows more about his personal life than an unidentified "insider."
It should be noted, the Enquirer's sister outlet, OK!, published a similar version of this story this week. Back in August, however, the magazine insisted DiCaprio had already proposed to his girlfriend - and Brad Pitt gave him tips on how to pop the question. That phony scenario, which Gossip Cop immediately debunked, goes unmentioned in this latest piece.
As for the Enquirer, the tabloid wrongly reported in August that DiCaprio and Morrone were headed for a split over Margot Robbie. That story was absurd. The actor's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star is happily married. As time has proven, DiCaprio and Morrone are still going strong all these months later.
It's possible this latest premise was invented because DiCaprio is very close with his mom. Irmelin primarily raised the movie star as his parents split when he was still a baby. The actor's mom has been very supportive of his career and often accompanies him on the red carpet. That doesn't mean she's meddling in his love life.
This also wouldn't be the first time a tabloid has exploited the close bond between a famous actor and his mother. Back in October, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for falsely claiming Bradley Cooper's mom was moving in with him following his split from Irina Shayk.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
