Is Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend Camila Morrone really accusing him of having an affair with Margot Robbie? That's the story in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
According to Woman's Day New Zealand, DiCaprio's girlfriend of more than a year recently "stormed out" of a dinner date in Los Angeles because she believes he's been hooking up with his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star. The magazine, however, doesn't bother to mention exactly when or where this supposed incident occurred.
Still, an alleged insider is quoted as saying, "Camila accused Leo of crossing the line when he revealed he and Margot were planning a meet-up. It's caused a huge amount of tension and jealous rows between them. Camila can't stand Margot." The tipster further contends that DiCaprio told his girlfriend his relationship with Robbie is "strictly platonic," but she "doesn't believe him." The seemingly phony tipster adds, "She told Leo it was over unless he cuts her off."
There's no truth to the tabloid's account of events. For starters, the magazine doesn't bother to mention that Robbie has been married to producer Tom Ackerley for more than two years. Although the outlet doesn't come right out and say it, it's essentially suggesting that the actress is cheating on her husband. That's certainly not the case.
Additionally, Robbie said in an interview with Porter magazine that she was "barely on set" with DiCaprio as the two don't share many scenes together in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Also, Robbie addressed the romance rumors surrounding her and DiCaprio back when the two first worked together in 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street. The actress had told Vogue Australia, "We're friends. Those rumors were inevitable, but there's no truth to them."
It's also worth noting, Robbie described DiCaprio as "a wonderful big brother" while they were making The Wolf of Wall Street, and added, "He took me under his wing and always looked out for me." The two co-stars have always had a friendly and professional relationship. Their dynamic hasn't changed and Morrone doesn't believe they've suddenly developed a secret romance.
It should be mentioned, the timing of the tabloid's article is very suspicious. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood wrapped production several months ago, but the movie starting building more buzz when the first trailer was released around two weeks ago. It's likely that Woman's Day came up with this premise to capitalize on the release of the first footage from the film.
Gossip Cop already busted Woman's Day back in September for falsely claiming DiCaprio was pursuing Robbie on the set of their upcoming movie. The narrative wasn't true then and it's no more accurate now. The movie star is in a committed relationship and his co-star is happily married.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
