A new report that insinuates Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are more than just friends is entirely wrong. Gossip Cop can reveal the truth behind a story that claims they recently had a “date night.” We’re told it’s “false.”

According to OK!, DiCaprio and Winslet enjoyed an “intimate” night out for the actor’s 43rd birthday on Friday. The outlet reports the two Oscar winners “spent over two hours together at the Santa Monica restaurant Giorgio Baldi” before being escorted out by security and leaving in the same car. The publication goes on to relate that DiCaprio and Winslet “sat side by side in the back of a sleek SUV,” but other than that the tabloid fails to provide any additional information to support its premise.

Let Gossip Cop set the record straight. A mutual friend of ours and DiCaprio tells us the article’s premise is 100 percent “false.” While it’s true DiCaprio and Winslet dined out in Santa Monica earlier this week, they weren’t alone. In reality, the Titanic co-stars were sharing a meal with the winner of a charity auction that raised money for DiCaprio’s conservation foundation. Contrary to OK!’s obvious insinuation, DiCaprio and the very much married Winslet are just close friends, and were not having a private “date night” on Friday.

This isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has busted a tabloid for inaccurately reporting about the nature of Winslet and DiCaprio’s friendship. Just a few months ago, we corrected the magazine’s sister publication, Star, for falsely alleging in a cover story that DiCaprio and Winslet were “lovers at last.” In that article, the publication untruthfully maintained they enjoyed an “intimate rendezvous” at DiCaprio’s villa in St. Tropez. Of course, that report was way off-base. The two pals simply hung out before DiCaprio’s annual charity gala that’s held in the South of France. Much like that tall tale, this latest one is completely wrong.
