Lea Michele snubbed Hailee Steinfeld at last month’s American Music Awards? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids, which says the “Glee” star completely ignored the fellow actress. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.

Back in 2011, Steinfeld revealed in an interview that a production assistant on the Paramount lot prevented her from getting Michele’s autograph. The actress, who was auditioning for her debut film True Grit at the time of the snub, admitted she “was practically crying” following the incident. Michele later clarified the situation, exclusively telling Gossip Cop, “I heard Hailee was upset and feel terrible. The ‘Glee’ schedule is so jam-packed that the PA probably pulled me so that I wouldn’t be late to set. I never meant to hurt her feelings. She’s an extraordinary talent and I look forward to meeting her one day.”

Michele and Steinfeld ended up connecting at the 2011 SAG Awards, and all is well between the two. The latest issue of OK!, however, is dredging up this old story nearly seven years later. A supposed “source” tells that magazine that the Pitch Perfect 3 star “made a beeline to say hi” to Michele at the AMAs, but she once again walked past her without saying a word.

“Maybe Lea didn’t recognize Hailee,” says the questionable insider. “But it was particularly awkward given their history. Hailee was clearly embarrassed. When they crossed paths again later that night, she didn’t even try to talk to Lea.” However, there’s simply no truth to this. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop that the actresses simply “never crossed paths” once at the awards show.

Unfortunately, OK! is hardly a reliable source when it comes to accurately reporting about the “Glee” actress. Gossip Cop called out the magazine in January 2016 for wrongly announcing that Michele got engaged to then-boyfriend Matthew Paetz. The two split less than a month after the phony article was published. This latest report surroundingthe actress’s nonexistent encounter with Steinfeld at the AMAs is equally bogus.
