LCD Soundsystem performed “Call The Police” on this week’s “SNL.” The song is one of the two new singles the band released on Thursday, and which will be on their upcoming album. See the video below of LCD Soundsystem’s performance of “Call The Police” on “Saturday Night Live.”

This marks LCD Soundsystem’s debut as the musical guest on “SNL.” It’s also the first time the band has played “Call The Police” on TV. They introduced the song a month ago at the New York venue Brooklyn Steel, along with their other new release, “American Dream”, and a third song called “Tonight.”

On Thursday, when both “Call The Police” and “American Dream” came out, LCD Soundsystem’s frontman James Murphy posted on Facebook that the new album was “seriously almost done,” though he couldn’t say for sure when it would ultimately be released. He also noted, “It’s been one of the most enjoyable records to make in my life, if not the most fun ever,” and that he was the “happiest” he’s ever been while recording it.

Murphy also explained the dropping of both songs at the same time was “essentially, a ‘double A side’ release.” He differentiated it from a B side release, which generally has one song that’s clearly favored, with a second second single thrown in. “These are just 2 songs that we wanted to get out to the lovely and patient,” Murphy added.
