UPDATE: An attorney for Lauren Jauregui says she was not arrested, but “given a citation for possession of marijuana and released on her own recognizance.” The lawyer adds, “She will address the matter appropriately through the legal system. This will not interfere with any future scheduled performances or activities.”

ORIGINAL STORY: Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony was arrested for weed on Tuesday. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for comment.

Jauregui was attempting to go through security at Washington Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. when the incident occurred. After going through the standard metal detectors, the singer was stopped by TSA for a secondary inspection. While examining her carry-on luggage, a bag of marijuana was allegedly found.

Cops then arrested Jauregui on sight. It is unclear when she was released from custody. The star was planning on traveling to Brazil, where Fifth Harmony is slated to perform on Wednesday night. The concert, which is part of the Vevo Fun Pop Festival, will likely go on without her, although that has not been confirmed.

Jauregui and the rest of Fifth Harmony got their big break on “The X Factor.” As Gossip Cop reported at the time, the individual performers were put together as a group and mentored by judge L.A. Reid. After they placed third in 2012, almost exactly four years ago, Reid signed them to Epic Records.

Since then, Fifth Harmony has gone on to become one of the biggest girl groups in recent memory. They toured this year to support their 7/27 album. And just days ago, Fifth Harmony performed at Z100 Jingle Ball. It’s also been a particularly newsworthy time for Jauregui, who came out as bisexual in an open-letter to Donald Trump last month. Gossip Cop will have updates.
