Lamar Odom remains unconscious in a Las Vegas hospital on Thursday, nearly two days after he was found unresponsive in a Nevada brothel. Since then, more and more details have emerged about his medical emergency, but there is also a lot of misinformation being spread as well. Gossip Cop is clearing up the rumors.

FICTION: Lamar Odom was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital.

FACT: While emergency personnel in Pahrump, Nevada originally intended to fly Odom via helicopter from the local hospital to Las Vegas for continued medical care, the plan was aborted at the last minute. The helicopter available did not provide enough room for Odom’s 6-foot, 10-inch frame and the medical equipment needed for transport. Instead it was decided it would be more “prudent” to take him via ambulance. Nye County officials stressed at a press conference on Wednesday that Odom received the exact same level of care as he would have had he been escorted by helicopter.

FICTION: Lamar Odom is brain dead.

FACT: Doctors at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center have not officially commented on Odom’s condition, and the first 48 hours are said to be the most critical following the type of drug overdose and strokes Odom has suffered. It is believed the former NBA star likely suffered brain damage, but to what extent remains unclear. At this point, however, no one has indicated that Odom is brain dead, though that potentially could be a future diagnosis.

FICTION: Lamar Odom is improving and responsive, according to Rev. Jesse Jackson.

FACT: Jackson made comments to the media outside the hospital on Wednesday following a purported 30-minute visit to Odom’s hospital room. Sadly, the reverend painted a rosier picture that does not match reality. Despite Jackson’s comments, Odom’s condition is deteriorating with his organs failing. He is still using a ventilator to breathe, and has not shown any signs of voluntary responsiveness.

FICTION: Lamar Odom only took a Viagra supplement.

FACT: At Wednesday’s press conference, the 911 calls made from the Love Ranch brothel were played, and the callers indicated that Odom took an herbal substitute for Viagra and had used cocaine on Saturday. The Nye County Sheriff further stated that Odom used “up to 10” sexual performance enhancement tablets over the course of three days, and that it was not known if any cocaine use continued beyond Saturday. That said, sources have indicated that cocaine was detected in Odom’s system. On Wednesday, police were granted a warrant to obtain a blood sample from Odom, and if positive, he could face charges. The results are not expected for several weeks.

FICTION: Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian are divorced.

FACT: Odom and Kardashian signed their divorce papers in July, more than a year after she first filed her petition. But though the documents have been signed by both parties, a judge has not approved the paperwork yet. Therefore, the divorce is not yet official and they legally remain husband and wife. That makes Kardashian Odom’s next of kin, and the person in charge of his medical care.

FICTION: The Kardashians are filming at Lamar Odom’s hospital, according to RadarOnline.

FACT: Despite RadarOnline’s claim that Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner brought a “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” crew with them to Las Vegas, a rep for Kardashian exclusively told Gossip Cop that there is no filming taking place. In fact, the clan doesn’t have any TV cameras at the hospital, and the only photos to emerge have been shots taken of the family by third parties in the facility’s parking garage.

FICTION: Scott Disick went to Las Vegas to see Lamar Odom, according to “Entertainment Tonight” and HollywoodLife.

FACT: Though the outlets claimed Disick was among the family members to rush to the hospital, he is actually in a Malibu rehab facility. Kourtney Kardashian’s ex entered treatment last weekend for drug and alcohol abuse, prior to Odom’s hospitalization. It is unclear if he has even been informed of Odom’s condition.

Gossip Cop will continue to separate fact from fiction and have accurate updates about Odom’s health crisis.
