Is Lady Gaga really writing a movie about her life? One of the tabloids claims the singer is planning her own biopic. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
According to the National Enquirer, the signer has been writing a screenplay about her life following her split from sound engineer Dan Horton last month. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "This is something Gaga has played around with for years, but she has only recently put her full focus on it and is now close to finishing."
The supposed tipster compares Gaga's movie to Prince's semi-biographical rock drama Purple Rain, further contending that she's bought the life rights to several old friends who witnessed her rise to fame. "She is writing her story the way she sees it and doesn't want any outside interference from some people who might dispute her version of things," adds the supposed source.
Gossip Cop checked in with an individual in Gaga's camp, who tells us the tabloid's story isn't true. The singer simply isn't writing a movie about her life. It's also unclear why the end of her brief fling with Horton would prompt Gaga to write a biopic considering all of the major events that have occurred in her personal life and career.
It's also suspicious that the outlet's article makes no mention of Bradley Cooper or Jeremy Renner. Back in August, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Gaga had dated both actors before moving on to Horton. Why don't they factor into her movie? It's probably because Gaga never dated either star and isn't working on a biopic either.
It's also worth noting, the tabloids hardly ever get scoops about movies going into development. Such stories can be found in the major Hollywood trade publications, none of which have reported anything about a Gaga biopic. Earlier this month, several of the trades reported that Gaga will star in a film about the Gucci family dynasty. The singer will play Patrizia Reggiani, who was married to the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, and who was convicted of organizing his murder.
It should also be mentioned, Gaga has spent the past couple of months performing her Las Vegas residency. It seems highly unlikely she found the time in between shows to write an entire biopic, especially when she has no prior experience writing a movie. Should a Gaga biopic go into the works at some point in the future, the Enquirer won't be the outlet that gets the exclusive.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
