Lady Gaga was not “in tears” after losing the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. It’s simply not true.

Many expected the singer to take home an acting award for her role in A Star Is Born at Sunday night’s Golden Globes, but Glenn Close ended up getting the trophy for her performance in The Wife. According to RadarOnline, Gaga didn’t take the loss well. An alleged insider tells the blog, “She was flipping the [expletive] out afterwards and literally in tears.”

The supposed source goes on to say that Gaga went into the night convinced she’d win Best Actress, so “when she lost she could hardly contain her tears.” The questionable tipster adds, “She was not happy at all and had to take a breather after to contain herself. She never thought she would lose to Glenn Close!”

The unreliable site doesn’t bother to mention exactly when and where Gaga supposedly had this teary breakdown. There were dozens of media outlets backstage at the Golden Globes, but not a single other publication has reported that the singer cried and “flipped out” after losing. That’s because it never happened.

The website’s story is coming from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Gaga’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it’s made-up. Despite what the blog’s seemingly imaginary “insider” maintains, a rep qualified to speak on the singer’s behalf assures us she didn’t have any sort of meltdown over losing Best Actress.

It’s worth noting, Gaga didn’t go home empty-handed on Sunday night. The singer nabbed the award for Best Original Song for “Shallow.” In fact, Gaga graciously gave a shoutout to Close on Twitter following the ceremony, writing, “I am so beyond grateful for this Golden Globe & honored to have won it w/ @MarkRonson @Wyattish, Anthony Rossomando and to have sang it with Bradley Cooper. I also could not be happier for Glenn Close winning tonight. She is a true legend and deserves every award. Thank you HFPA.”

Meanwhile, the singer appeared to be in very good spirits following the awards show. Gaga’s fiancé, Christian Carino, shared an Instagram photo of the singer celebrating her win by getting cozy in bed with a bowl of Fruity Pebbles and her trophy. Meanwhile, RadarOnline has a habit of making up stories related to the singer’s awards show circuit. Gossip Cop recently busted the blog for falsely claiming that Madonna was “livid” over Gaga getting Oscar buzz for A Star Is Born. This latest article is more nonsense.
