Is Lady Gaga stepping out of the spotlight to have a baby with fiance Christian Carino? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.
The singer has been a major presence on the awards circuit thanks to the success of A Star Is Born, but according to Woman's Day New Zealand, she's ready to take a step back from show business to focus on having a family. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Her phone has been ringing off the hook with movie offers - everything from serious dramas to period pieces to rom-coms and even a superhero movie. But Gaga is in no rush to cash in on her success. In fact, she says the only thing she wants right now is to become a mom. She and Christian are both utterly desperate to be parents together."
The outlet's premise simply isn't accurate. After winning the award for Best Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday night, during an interview backstage Gaga made a point of saying she will "definitely continue acting." While talking about working with Bradley Cooper on A Star Is Born, the singer noted, "It was a tremendous experience, and I want to continue to do more [films]." Gaga even went on to say that she's also working on new music. And just last month, Gaga kicked off her Las Vegas residency, which runs until November. As opposed to taking a step back from show business, the performer is wearing many different hats at once.
Additionally, the tabloid's article is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Gaga's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's false. As noted above, the singer herself also confirms that she's continuing to focus on her career. It's worth mentioning, it seems likely that Gaga and Carino will get married at some point in the near future, and it's also very possible they'll start a family somewhere down the road. Woman's Day, however, has no insight into the couple's personal life.
Gossip Cop busted the magazine in October for falsely claiming Gaga's close friendship with Cooper was destroying his relationship with girlfriend Irina Shayk. That drama was completely made-up. This latest article about the singer stepping out of the spotlight may be less contentious, but it's no more accurate.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
