A story claiming Kylie Jenner is “blown away” over people being “obsessed” with her pregnancy is fake news. Once again, a certain webloid is taking real news and trying to capitalize on it with a made-up related story. Gossip Cop can bust it.
On Friday, a number of outlets, including HollywoodLife, wrongly speculated that Jenner was in labor. The blog, which so often peddles misinformation that it’s become known as HollywoodLies, gushed that the expectant star was “reportedly about to become a first time mom,” and even asked readers, “Are you excited that Kylie might be in labor?” But, as Gossip Cop and others accurately reported, Jenner was not giving birth yet.
Now the site is not only flip-flopping, but also claiming to have “exclusive details” on how Jenner reacted to all of the “false rumors.” A so-called “source close to the Kardashian family” is quoted as saying, “Kylie is pretty blown away by quite how much people seem utterly obsessed with her pregnancy, it’s like no other 20-year-old has ever given birth before.”
“She’s been trying to keep off line as much as possible, but she couldn’t escape all the speculation yesterday as her phone started ringing as soon as the rumors started,” the outlet’s seemingly fictional tipster goes on to assert, adding, “Kylie just takes it all with a pinch of salt, and finds it pretty amusing.” The online publication ends its piece by asking its readers, “Did you freak out over the false rumors that Kylie was in labor?”
And that just begs another question. If HollywoodLies really has a “source,” as claimed, why did it spread those “false rumors” in the first place? If the webloid really had access to Jenner’s world, as it so often purports, it should’ve been able to fact-check and investigate the speculation before spreading it. That’s what Gossip Cop did and we rightly learned Jenner was not actually delivering her baby. In contrast, the blog merely fueled the guessing game and now has the nerve to claim it has “exclusive” insight after the record has already been corrected.
That’s not the only problem here. The obviously invented “source” maintains Jenner has been “trying to keep off line” when she’s actually stayed active on social media throughout her pregnancy. Additionally, the notion that she’s suddenly “blown away” by the interest in her pregnancy doesn’t ring true. Since it was first revealed in September that she was expecting, Jenner has remained one of the most-talked about topics in the world of celebrity news.
She’s known all long that there’s been extremely high interest in her pregnancy. This isn’t a sudden realization just because there was speculation on Twitter Friday that she was in labor. There’s been speculation running rampant for months now. So, in sum, HollywoodLies took the real news that there were untrue rumors about Jenner giving birth and crafted a fake news story to further the narrative. But not only is this related tale obviously manufactured, but as detailed here, its claims don’t even stand up to scrutiny.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
