Are Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian having a "joint birth"? That's the latest rumor circulating about the pregnant sisters. Gossip Cop looked into the claim.
The new cover of Heat has a teaser headline stating, "Khloe & Kylie's Crazy Joint Birth." Online, the Mirror picked up the story, contending, "Sources say Momager extraordinaire Kris Jenner is hoping for a same-day delivery as both sisters get ready for their due dates. The source adds that acing such a momentous birthing would prove to be ratings gold for 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians.'"
"However, with the two sisters keeping to two very different style aesthetics in their everyday get up, the publication's source says the ladies are looking for their own brand of birthing suite chic on the big day," continues the British outlet, going on to regurgitate, "They say Kylie 'wants a C-section, because she can't stand the idea of all that pain,' while Khloe is going more for an 'Earth Mother' vibe, adding: 'She wants a natural birth, without even an epidural, and she's requested meditative music to be played.'" It's even alleged "each sis will have a separate wing of celebrity birthing hot spot Cedars-Sinai Hospital to themselves."
Wait. If Jenner and Kardashian will have separate birthing suites in different hospital wings, how would this be a "joint birth"? And if Jenner is having a C-section while Kardashian is planning a natural birth, there'd be no guarantee the older sister will give birth at the same time as the younger. That would also mean it's not a "joint birth," which implies the siblings are in the same room, delivering at the same time.
It seems Heat just wanted to run an attention-grabbing teaser on its cover, even if the alleged details in its story don't actually support the premise. And the Mirror is guilty of spreading the allegations without knowing or caring whether or not they're even true. In fact, the site admits it isn't even sure if Kardashian and Jenner really are pregnant, calling it a "conspiracy theory" and saying things like "Khloe is loved up and potentially expecting." After recounting the tabloid's contentions, the online publication adds, "Let's mention once again that neither sister has confirmed nor denied a pregnancy."
So why, then, did the Mirror pick up the claims about a "joint birth"? It seems the outlet just wanted clicks, much like Heat wanted to sell copies of its new issue. As for the validity of the allegations, the assertions are flawed, as Gossip Cop pointed out above. And no one with whom we spoke would comment on the sisters' birthing plans, nor has any reputable outlet reported their intentions.
But here's the biggest problem with the "joint birth" story: Jenner and Kardashian are due months apart, Gossip Cop is told. In fact, in an article about how Jenner wants to be out of the spotlight until the birth, People noted she's due in February. (We actually hear she's on track to give birth in January.) And when TMZ accurately broke the news of her sister's pregnancy in late September, it reported the reality star was three months pregnant, meaning Kardashian's due in late March or early April. That makes it virtually impossible the two will end up having their babies born together. UPDATE: The joint birth will be impossible, because Kardashian has since revealed she's giving birth in Cleveland.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
