Kylie Jenner might be the youngest out of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, but she’s managed to out-earn them all. Only 22 years old, the reality star-turned-makeup maven is already worth over a billion dollars. Business is booming for the billionaire beauty.

Jenner figured out a way to turn lipstick into a billion dollar business and did so in a shockingly short amount of time. She began her company, Kylie Cosmetics, in 2015 by launching a line of liquid lipsticks. She used approximately $250,000 from the money she’d earned from modeling gigs to pay for her first 15,000 lip kits. Jenner’s famously plump pout was a big reason the line took off. By February 2016, when Jenner came out with three new lipsticks, the products were already being sold on eBay for almost eight times their original selling price. This was a high point for Jenner, but her brand wasn’t done growing yet.

By 2018, Jenner sold an estimated $360 million worth of Kylie Cosmetics products. She branched out to other forms of makeup (blushes, glosses and shadows, to name a few) and business was good. By November of that year, Jenner had made an exclusive deal to sell her products, previously only available online, in Ulta stores. In the first six weeks of sales, Kylie Cosmetics sold roughly $55 million worth of products. Just a few short years after starting her first business venture, Jenner was already a multimillionaire. Still, she wasn’t finished filling up her coffers.

Until 2019, Jenner had owned 100 percent of her company. In November, she sold 51 percent to Coty Inc. for $600 million. Though she’s no longer the majority shareholder, Jenner and her team will still have control of the creative efforts, product development and communication initiatives. It was a busy 2019 for the mogul, since she also launched a line of skin care products called Kylie Skin. The new business is estimated to have made $25 million in its first year.

With so much success at such a young age, it’s no wonder that rumors about familial jealousy surround Jenner. After Forbes named Jenner the youngest self-made billionaire in the world, Life & Style published a piece claiming that the older Kardashian sisters were jealous of Jenner’s sudden success. Gossip Cop easily disproved that claim since the sisters in question were quite vocal in their congratulatory tweets. RadarOnline also weighed in on the rumor mill, claiming Kim Kardashian in particular was bitter and fuming over Jenner’s achievements. As before, Gossip Cop debunked that claim, proving that the only bitter one was the publication that made the story up in the first place.
