Kylie Jenner turns 20 on Thursday, and Gossip Cop is looking back at the past year of the birthday girl's eventful life. See what's happened to Jenner and some of the rumors we debunked about her in the past 12 months.
Shortly after turning 19, Jenner was named one of Time's Most Influential Teens Of 2016, which recognizes 30 teenagers who are contributing to society in unique ways. A repeat honoree, Jenner was recognized last October for her "powerful brand" and pointed to the "millions of social-media followers who share her passion for reinventions." On the professional front, Jenner's coveted Lip Kits transformed into the ultra-successful Kylie Cosmetics range, which in the past year has grown into a multimillion-dollar business, outselling the likes of Bobbi Brown and Lancome.
And in April, it was revealed that Jenner was working on her own spinoff reality series called "Life Of Kylie," which premiered earlier this month on E!. Following the announcement of her new series, Jenner said in a statement, "These couple of years have been such an incredible journey with the support of my fans. This show will allow me to give them a peek inside all of the exciting things I am working on as well as some personal time with friends."
But shortly after plans for the show were revealed, a number of outlets quickly fabricated reports about the upcoming series. Gossip Cop called out Life & Style in July, for example, for wrongly claiming "Life Of Kylie" was a "disaster." In the article, the magazine alleged that Jenner came across as "dull and wooden" in the show. Of course, the entire report was wrong, with the premiere drawing in solid numbers.
Naturally, debunking reports about Jenner isn't new for Gossip Cop. We corrected RadarOnline this past year for falsely alleging that Jenner and Tyga were "in talks" to star in their own reality show. Then, in the wake of her breakup from Tyga, we called out the often disproven HollywoodLife for wrongly claiming Jenner was concerned Tyga would release sex tapes they supposedly made when they were dating.
And now that Jenner is dating rapper Travis Scott, the inaccurate stories keep on coming. In May, Gossip Cop debunked MediaTakeOut for publishing a made-up tale about Jenner being pregnant with Scott's baby. Equally ridiculous was a Life & Style cover story that we busted for falsely claiming Jenner had secretly married Scott. Gossip Cop wishes Jenner a happy and rumor-free birthday!
