Does Kris Jenner really want to be Kathie Lee Gifford's new "Today" co-host? A new tabloid report claims Jenner is hoping to fill Hoda Kotb's "seat" on the morning show, but Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight. We're told it's "false."
According to OK!, the "world's most ambitious momager is gunning to fill the seat next to Kathie Lee Gifford" during the fourth hour of the "Today" show. A so-called "source" is quoted as telling the gossip magazine, "It would make sense, because Kris and Kathie Lee have been friends for ages. They have great chemistry, and producers will want Kathie Lee to feel comfortable with whoever comes in. Hosting would be a major coup for Kris."
The publication's dubious "insider" goes on to assert that Jenner "never stops plotting her next career move, and right now she's pulling every string she can" to land the hosting gig. And even though co-hosting the morning show would mean relocating to New York, the outlet's questionable "source" further purports that "Kris would do it for a gig like this. It would bring her a whole new audience."
But there's no vacancy on the "Today" show. As was widely reported, Kotb was recently named co-anchor of the morning show alongside Savannah Guthrie, replacing Matt Lauer who was fired in November over sexual misconduct allegations. As for Kotb's role during the fourth hour of "Today," she plans to continue co-hosting with Gifford. In an interview with E! News, Kotb shared, "I'll still do the fourth hour with Kathie Lee. Someone needs to drink the wine!"
Regardless, Gossip Cop still investigated the claim about Jenner wanting to "take over" the fourth hour of the morning show, and a rep for the reality star assures us it's "false." Jenner does not want to fill Kotb's seat on the "Today" show, nor would she move to New York for such a gig. The entire article is nothing more than a fabrication.
It should be noted, this latest tale is coming from the same tabloid that previously claimed Jenner was developing a "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" spinoff that would focus solely on her grandkids. Much like that inaccurate report, this newest one about Jenner wanting to co-host "Today" with Gifford is equally off-base.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
