Kris Jenner is not writing a "revenge memoir" about Caitlyn Jenner, despite a new report from the tabloids. Gossip Cop can separate fact from fiction.

According to OK!, Kris is "outraged" over the "backstabbing lies" featured in Caitlyn's book, The Secrets Of My Life. Now, claims the tabloid, the momager is "writing her own memoir with an eye toward taking her ex down." A so-called "insider" contends Kris is planning to "blow the lid off her marriage to pretransition Bruce."

The gossip magazine's supposed source claims that means accusing Caitlyn of being an "absentee dad and a cold and distant husband" and denying "Cait's claims that Kris knew early on about her gender issues." The publication even asserts the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch was first asked to write a book when Caitlyn transitioned two years ago, but didn't for the sake of maintaining family peace.

"Now she feels she has no choice but to tell her side of the story," alleges the publication's purported tipster, who further claims Kris is "deep into writing" and already has "seven-figure offers" from publishers. This "insider" adds, "Kris sees this as a win-win: She'll turn the tide of opinion back to her, and she'll get revenge on Cait."

This alleged plan, however, has a considerable flaw. Who's to say the "tide" will actually turn with Kris' book? Caitlyn has given her version of events. If and when Kris shares hers, it'll just be a she-said/she-said situation, with readers inclined to believe whomever they wish. There's no guarantee that Kris' own memoir will lead to the "revenge" she supposedly wants.

It's also telling that the gist of this article contradicts one published by the tabloid last month. In April, OK! alleged Kris wanted to a fake a romance with Caitlyn for "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" ratings. But now weeks later, Kris is "outraged" by her ex and wants to bash her in a book? The pieces are contradictory, and the timing doesn't make sense, either, as Kris already knew about the contents of Caitlyn's memoir when the romance story came out.

A skeptic might think the magazine is just making up its tales about Kris and Caitlyn as it goes along, picking any given angle on a particular week, regardless of accuracy and consistency. It is certainly true that Kris is unhappy with Caitlyn's book. That much is fact. But Gossip Cop is told by sources close to the family that she does not have her own anti-Cait memoir in the works. Any claim to the contrary is fiction.

While it's possible Kris may write about her life at some point down the line, such a book would likely be all-encompassing, and not simply about "taking her ex down." Should such a project ever come about, Gossip Cop will have the real news.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
