Kris Jenner is not actually inviting Kate William and Prince William to her Christmas party. This is an inaccurate twisting of what the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch said in a recent interview. Gossip Cop can separate fact from fiction.

Celeb Dirty Laundry has a headline reading, “Kris Jenner’s Crazy Christmas Party: Kate Middleton and Prince William Invited?” After detailing some aspects of the momager’s holiday bashes (Santa Claus impersonator, live reindeer), the site contends, “The guest list is also one for the record books. Kris isn’t content with just inviting Man One and Woman She Met At Yoga. No, no, Kris has allegedly extended an invitation to Kate Middleton and Prince William.”

“She wants the royal family to enjoy the Christmas celebrations,” claims the webloid, which goes on to wonder whether Jenner’s initiation is a “case of serious delusion or just plain madness.” The outlet further snarks, “Why would Kate and Prince William travel all the way to Los Angeles just to enjoy the vapid conversations of industry insiders? It’s like inviting Ronald McDonald to your birthday party, but then a scary clowns shows up dressed in an It costume eating children’s souls.”

Gossip Cop isn’t really buying that comparison, but that’s not the real issue here. The problem is that, contrary to how this article makes it seem, Jenner never invited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to her upcoming Christmas party. Here’s what really happened: Jenner did an interview with Glamour UK about the planning of her annual holiday party. During the chat, she was asked about her dream guests, and replied, “If I could get any guests at our party, it would have to be Prince William and Duchess Kate. Oh, and they can bring Harry, too.”

She added, “Their kids would have fun, for sure – I bet Charlotte and George would love the hot-dog-on-a-stick stand!” These were light-hearted remarks, along the lines of the oft-used interview question, “If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?” Jenner was talking about a hypothetical situation. She didn’t say she was actually inviting them, and she has not really “extended an invitation.”

Celeb Dirty Laundry not only didn’t provide the star’s actual quote in its piece, but also didn’t explain the context in which she spoke about having the royals at her party. The outlet quite obviously misrepresented what was exactly said and why for a story that amounts to erroneous fake news.
