Are Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner going to fake a romance for “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” ratings? That’s the ridiculous claim one tabloid wants readers to believe. Gossip Cop can poke holes in the story.
With viewership for the family’s reality show dropping, OK! claims Kris is “willing to do anything to boost the ratings of her once-hit show, even have a fauxmance with her ex.” A so-called “insider” asserts that Kris is only “being nice” to her former husband right now so Caitlyn will “go on the show and make out that there’s still chemistry between them.”
And, according to the gossip magazine, “Kris is said to have quite the offer for Caitlyn’s ‘KUWTK’ return.” Explains the supposed source, “Kris has a high-paying contract that Caitlyn will find very hard to turn down, but whether viewers can stomach seeing Caitlyn and Kris cozying up on a lounge remains to be seen.”
Well that line certainly has vaguely homophobic and transphobic undertones. If someone can’t “stomach” seeing two women, one of them transgender, “cozying up on a longue,” they can change the channel. But that’s not really the issue here.
At issue is this story is totally bogus, and Gossip Cop can explain why. Caitlyn wouldn’t be making some big “KUWTK” return with this alleged deal because she’s already been on the show this season. In fact, as Gossip Cop reported, she played a fairly significant part on last Sunday’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” episode.
And then there’s the fact that almost no one would buy Caitlyn and Kris rekindling a relationship. The former spouses, who split well before Cait transitioned, have made it very clear that there’s no romance left between them. Neither has any interest in being anything but platonic co-parents. To pretend otherwise would only backfire.
Lastly, OK! is hardly known for its accurate reports on Kris, Caitlyn or any of the family members. In fact, it’s just the opposite. The tabloid is repeatedly wrong and inconsistent. Last fall, for instance, the publication ran a story claiming E! was insisting Caitlyn return to “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” to help ratings, but an upset Kris wasn’t on board with the idea.
Now a few months later, the outlet is conveniently acting like it never told that tale and claiming Kris is eager to not only have Caitlyn on the show but also fake a romance with her. The pieces contradict each other, and yet both are wrong. That’s quite the feat. There will be no fake romance between Kris and Caitlyn on “KUWTK.” There will, however, be Gossip Cop calling OK! out for its fake news.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
