Kourtney Kardashian was not sending a “message” to Scott Disick with her choice of hoodie, despite a speculative claim. Gossip Cop can bust this absurd and untrue story. The reality star’s sweatshirt had nothing to do with her ex-boyfriend.

But HollywoodLife is wondering in a headline on Saturday, “Kourtney Kardashian’s Hoodie Asks ‘What Would You Do If I Died Before You’: Is It A Message To Scott?” The ridiculous piece is based on photos of Kardashian in a statement sweater while she was out with Kylie Jenner. The back of the sweatshirt read in all-caps, “What would you do if I died before you?” It’s a provocative question, one that the blog is now randomly connecting to Disick.

Calling the shirt a “bizarre choice of style,” the site writes, “we can’t help but wonder if perhaps maybe she was trying to send a hidden message to someone — ex Scott Disick maybe?” What’s the reason Kardashian may have been trying to “send a hidden message” to the father of her children? Tellingly, the website never says. In fact, it actually goes on to admit, “It’s not clear if Kourtney was indeed trying to send out a meaning with her sweatshirt or not.”

So why run this half-baked story in the first place? Gossip Cop suspects HollywoodLies, as it’s known, just wanted to attract fans of the “KUWTK” stars in hopes of getting traffic. It’s worth noting that a few other outlets also published the paparazzi pictures of Kardashian, deeming the hoodie’s message “depressing” and “solemn.” But unlike this online publication, they didn’t make the unsubstantiated assertion that her sweater was connected to Disick.

Consider the question again: “What would you do if I died before you?” There is nothing inherent in the query that would imply Kardashian was trying to get her former partner’s attention. The question could just as easily be posed to, say, her current boyfriend Younes Bendjima, or perhaps mom Kris Jenner. Of course, if the mom of three really wanted to have a conversation with Disick or any of them about such a topic, she wouldn’t need to first get their attention through a shirt photographed by paparazzi.

The only thing more ludicrous than this narrative is that this isn’t the first time HollywoodLies has tried to make a cockamamie connection between Kardashian’s appearance and Disick. Just over a year ago, for example, the site accused Kardashian of throwing “shade” at Disick because she wore a necklace with the word “off” on it. From that accessory, the website came to the inane conclusion that she was “telling off” her kids’ dad. Perhaps needless to say, but Kardashian wasn’t sending a “subtle message” to Disick then, and she wasn’t walking around with a “hidden message” to him this week. Hopefully the blog will get this message.
