A story claiming Kourtney Kardashian is "jealous" of Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's engagement was made-up. Gossip Cop can bust it. We can also explain how this false narrative originated.
Last week, Star peddled an unsubstantiated article claiming Baldwin banned Bieber from seeing Kardashian, with whom he had an on-and-off fling a few years ago. On Monday, the tabloid's sister outlet, RadarOnline, used the same exact quotes to push an equally unverified report about Baldwin supposedly telling Kardashian to stay away from Bieber. Now HollywoodLife is offering what it so often does: A related story of its own.
"Kourtney Kardashian 'Jealous' Of Justin Bieber & Hailey Baldwin's Love, Wants To Be 'The One Engaged,'" reads the headline of this phony "exclusive." The site begins by alleging Kardashian is "not happy about her single status" and is "green with envy" over Bieber's relationship. What evidence does the blog have that Kardashian is "completely jealous"?
The outlet quotes one of its fictitious "Kardashian insiders" as saying, "Kourtney isn't trying to make any moves on Justin, she totally respects what he has with Hailey. That doesn't mean she's not a little envious." Contends this untraceable source, "She can't help but wish that she was the one engaged and madly in love... She's starting to fear she may never get married [and] have her own big wedding and happy ending. So in that respect, she is jealous of Hailey and Justin."
But Kardashian has never really expressed an interest in getting married. She and Scott Disick were together for roughly nine years, had three children, and never even became engaged. In 2012, Kardashian explained on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" why she hadn't married him, saying, "I'm really claustrophobic, and all my issues — and I have a lot of them — they all stem from this thing. I can't commit to anything."
Apparently HollywoodLife wants fans to believe her views have suddenly changed just because Bieber and Baldwin became engaged. But contrary to the claims the "KUWTK" star isn't "happy about her single status," the opposite is actually true. Only one day ago, in a story about where Kardashian and Disick stand, E! Online reported she is "enjoying being newly single" and is "in no rush to settle down with anyone." That same day, in a piece about Kardashian's breakup with Younes Bendjima, Us Weekly reported, "She's in a happy place and her sole focus is the kids."
Notably, neither publication said anything about Kardashian longing for an engagement because Bieber is now set to wed. But this is the second time now that the website has concocted such a narrative. It previously claimed in July that Kardashian was "dreaming of marrying" Bendjima after Bieber popped the question to Baldwin. At that point, Kardashian's relationship with Bendjima was actually falling apart, and they split shortly after, underscoring the site's lack of insight.
In both instances, the blog wanted to exploit the high interest in Bieber's engagement by pretending to have a related scoop involving Kardashian, another top star. And this time, it seems the outlet was further inspired because of the recent Radar and Star stories. These premises, however, don't stand up to scrutiny and are transparently made-up.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
