Kit Harington had a tough time when he wrapped up playing the iconic Jon Snow on the HBO hit Game of Thrones. Famously, he entered a wellness center to deal with exhaustion after the show aired its final episode in April. Today, days after being nominated for a Golden Globe for the role, the English actor seems finally at peace.
Harington has kept a pretty low profile since the show ended. After emerging from the wellness center, he and his wife, Rose Leslie, hunkered down in London, mostly staying out of the spotlight. This past weekend, the couple were photographed together for the first time in months as they headed to a charity event. Gossip Cop has been forced to debunk numerous stories claiming the Harington and Leslie were headed for a split while they laid low.
The actor’s first project after GoT, The Eternals, is also in production. He’s set to play the Black Knight in the upcoming Marvel movie, scheduled to be released in November 2020. Gossip Cop even had to debunk a phony report by Life & Style that Harington and Angelina Jolie were flirting on the set. They weren’t.
It seems though, that what has finally brought him closure is his Golden Globe nomination. It’s the actor’s first nomination and as he told the Hollywood Reporter this week, “My feeling is where he ended in the show is exactly where he should have ended. There was a full-circledness to it,” he said. “This [nomination] feels full circle, too. It’s a lovely way to say goodbye to the character. It’s a lovely way to say goodbye to the show. It’s perfect, in my book.”
The actor struggled with the end of the show. More than any of the other actors, the end seemed it hit Harington the hardest. After hosting Saturday Night Live in April, the actor checked into the wellness center amidst lots of rumors. Harington’s rep confirmed he just needed a break after the end of the show to recharge. Despite bogus rumors of Leslie and Harington breaking up following rehab, the couple remains “very much happily married.”
It’s wonderful to know that the actor has come to peace with it. As he tells THR, “We spent a lot of years with this thing. Obviously, I dearly loved it. I loved every moment of it. I loved the character. It’s a weird feeling, but I feel kind of happy for him, the character, if that makes sense.” While the actor meant the cast and crew of the show when he said “we,” he really speaks for all the fans as well.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is accurate to the best of our ability.
