Kim Kardashian is slamming “invasive” reports over the last week that say she’s hired a surrogate who is currently pregnant and due early next year. Although the reality star has been open about the topic of surrogacy in the past, she is not happy about the ongoing conversation surrounding her right now.

As Gossip Cop has reported, on last season of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kardashian explored the possibility of having a third child with Kanye West via surrogate. The mom of two was told it would be too risky to carry the baby herself, and she wrestled over how to proceed. Not long after, it was claimed earlier this year that the couple did indeed hire a surrogate. Gossip Cop began investigating, but when we were told that Kardashian’s camp did not want to “engage” in this topic due to its extremely personal nature, we decided to be respectful of that and specifically noted to readers that we would only have updates as appropriate.

Other publications, however, did not take the same stance. In June, HollywoodLife and Life & Style, for example, each ran “exclusive” stories claiming Kardashian’s surrogate was pregnant with twins. The flurry of stories on the subject kicked back into high gear over the last few days after TMZ reported that the surrogate is carrying a single baby and due in early 2018. The site, however, also revealed identifying details about the surrogate herself, such as her race, age and marital status. Outlets like People ran stories about the unborn baby’s gender. And HollywoodLies, as it so often does, made up “exclusives” in which it claimed to know Kardashian was “pampering” the surrogate and making sure the woman was under 24-hour security.

All the while, Kardashian and West themselves said nothing. They have never confirmed they have a child on the way, as is their right, and their spokespeople have not commented either. On Friday night, the reality star broke her silence, but only to stress that she has not confirmed a pregnancy and to decry the multitude of speculative reports. “I’ve definitely seen a lot of things. We’ve never confirmed anything,” she told told E! News an event.

Kardashian continued, “So, I think when we’re ready to talk about it we will, and I think it’s super invasive when people are just… So many details [are] out there, and [I’m] like I’ve never heard this, I’ve never heard this. Like whatever. We have not confirmed it, and that’s that. I’ll let you know when we’re ready.” Kardashian, of course, has chosen to be incredibly forthcoming with her life over the years. But if she wants to keep something under wraps, especially a sensitive matter such as a surrogate pregnancy, she is absolutely entitled. And if at some point in the future she decides to share this part of her life, that will be her prerogative, too.
