Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are not hiring an artist to paint their "official portraits" like the Obamas, despite a fabricated report. Gossip Cop can correct this claim. We're told it's "not true."
As widely reported, Barack and Michelle Obama's official portraits were recently unveiled at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. The pictures were painted by Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald. Now, according to RadarOnline, based on an article from its sister publication, the National Enquirer, Kardashian and West are supposedly looking to "commission a celebrated artist to paint their official portraits," just like the Obamas.
A so-called "source" is quoted as telling the website, "Kanye has contacted several artists to request examples of their work." The seemingly made-up "insider" goes on to contend that West "loves the paintings of Michelle and Barack and is researching which artist should capture him and [Kardashian] for the National Portrait Gallery." The "only problem is," maintains the alleged tipster, is that the "gallery has expressed zero interest in hanging a painting of either Kanye or his wife."
But Gossip Cop fact-checked the claim, and contrary to the outlet's colorful tale and untraceable mystery "source," reps for both Kardashian and West tell us on the record the report is 100 percent "not true." Simply, the couple is not looking to hire an artist to paint their official portraits, with the hopes that the paintings will hang in the National Portrait Gallery. The entire story is just a messy canvass of lies.
Unfortunately, we're not remotely surprised by the outlet's latest concocted report, as the website has a long history of posting bogus stories about the couple. Nearly two years ago, Gossip Cop called out the online publication when it falsely declared that Kardashian had finalized a "divorce agreement" from West. Of course time has proven that to be a complete fabrication.
It's also the same often discredited site that swore up and down that the reality star was quitting "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and untruthfully alleged alternately that West was becoming a judge on the "American Idol" reboot, as was his wife. Shockingly, those are hardly the most inaccurate stories about West and Kardashian from that site; however, they do illustrate how unreliable it is as a credible source of information about the couple. Much like those articles and many more, the latest tale about Kardashian and West wanting an artist to paint their official portraits like the Obamas is also a work of fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
