Kim Kardashian Kanye West Divorce Rumors

(In Touch)

Sunday marks Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s first wedding anniversary. While the news isn’t shocking to Gossip Cop, those who only read the tabloids might be surprised. Over the last year, the rumor mill has spread 20 false divorce stories about Kardashian and West. And Gossip Cop has accurately corrected each and every one.

In Touch was easily the worst offender when it came to reporting on Kardashian and West’s marriage. Out of the 20 wrong reports Gossip Cop corrected (that amounts to more than one each month), the tabloid was responsible for nearly half of them. In July, In Touch dramatically declared the marriage was “over after 58 days” (see above right), a pathetic attempt to capitalize on the fact that Kardashian split from previous husband Kris Humphries after 72 days. In September, In Touch said West and Kardashian were having a “nasty $250 million divorce,” and then in October, claimed they were in a “divorce battle over baby North.” The magazine declared Kardashian was “pregnant and dumped” in November, and then alleged she had filed divorced papers in December. In February, In Touch claimed Kardashian hired a divorce lawyer, and in April announced that she and West hadn’t made it to their first wedding anniversary. And yet here we are, on anniversary number one, with West and Kardashian happily together.

Just a few weeks after the wedding, In Touch’s sister publication Life & Style said Kardashian was “second-guessing” her decision to marry West. In August, the magazine claimed she was “pregnant and dumped,” and then alleged she was “dumped on her birthday” in October. The tabloid served up a second “pregnant and dumped” cover in April.

MediaTakeOut, the webloid West once slammed as “so f*ckin’ full of shit,” claimed in July that the rapper was leaving Kardashian and moving to Paris. The site then said in December that the couple was getting divorced. In March, MediaFakeOut said Kardashian “officially dropped” West, and even alleged an official announcement was coming “tomorrow.” Well, tomorrow came and went, and a few days later, MediaTakeOut STILL claimed they were on the “verge of divorce.”

Celeb Dirty Laundry gave some of the more bizarre breakup stories. In February, the site speculated that Kardashian’s haircut was a “goodbye message” and meant she was divorcing West. The couple was then said to be on the “brink of divorce” in April. And just earlier this month, CDL declared the divorce was “back on,” because West was supposedly blaming Kardashian for the problems with his Billboard Music Awards performance. Yeah, we don’t get that one either.

And there was also the National Enquirer, which blared “$195 million divorce” for Kardashian and West in December. While Gossip Cop has no doubt the tabloids will keep us busy with more divorce rumors in year two, keep all this in mind the next time you’re at the newsstand or surfing the web. Congratulations to Kardashian and West on their anniversary, and for proving the tabloids wrong.
