Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have a "secret pact" to fake a public relationship, according to a tabloid. This same report also claims they're really living "separate lives." But Gossip Cop can bust the claims.
Woman's Day New Zealand contends there's a "lack of love" between Kardashian and West, despite their four-year marriage. So why are they still together then? The magazine alleges the couple has a "secret pact to maintain a 'public-only' romance... for the sake of their brand and their three children." A so-called "Kardashian insider" is quoted as saying, "Kim knows she needs Kanye and says they very much have a business relationship, which she's hell-bent on continuing."
As for West's perspective, the supposed source alleges he's "agreed that despite their lack of connection and a loss of feelings for one another, they need to stick it out and will continue to put on a facade in public." But here's where things get confusing and even a bit a contradictory: The outlet next contends the rapper and the reality star have been "leading separate lives" since their third child, Chicago, was born in January.
"The first sign that all was not right came in May, when Kim attended the Met Gala without her husband," maintains the publication. But if Kardashian and West are really putting on a charade and only pretending to be a happy couple, wouldn't he have gone with her to maintain appearances? And if they're faking their relationship for the sake of their "brand," why would they be living "separate lives"? Wouldn't it make more sense to keep up a "public-only romance" by being together all the time?
Clearly, these allegations are lacking quite a bit of logic. What's more, though, is that Kardashian's solo trip to the Met Gala in May was not unusual nor a sign of behind-the-scenes marital problems. West skipped the Met Gala because he was working on multiple albums, and he also didn't go to the star-studded event last year, either. It's not a reflection of their relationship status.
Additionally, Gossip Cop already busted untrue claims about Kardashian and West having "separate lives," contentions that are provably false given all the time they've been seen together throughout the last month. And the real reason they stay together is not because of some "secret pact." In a story this spring about how Kardashian defends West publicly, People explained that she's a "very loyal wife."
It's also noteworthy that the tabloid claims Kardashian is carrying on a "showmance" with West because she fears her "fame level" may "spiral" with a split, when others in the gossip media often conversely allege he's detrimental to her "brand" due to his many controversies and insist she should ditch him. It seems she can't win no matter what, something Gossip Cop also observed in February when Woman's Day criticized Kardashian for supposedly putting work before baby Chicago. Curiously, that contention isn't even mentioned in this new story. It seems the only thing that's fake is the tabloid's inconsistent narratives.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
