Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have had a wild year, but did it include their divorce because West refused to check into a psych ward? Gossip Cop looked into this rumor one year ago and debunked it. This year has already brought a lot of surprising events, but a Kardashian-West divorce is not one of them.

Exactly 12 months ago, Star published an article claiming Kardashian was ready to divorce West if he wouldn't check into a psych ward. She was fed up with her husband's Twitter antics, the outlet claimed, though it was a series of tweets about the rapper Drake that was allegedly the final straw for the reality star. "[Kardashian] wants him to quit Twitter, take his meds and enter a hospital," an insider told the magazine.

"Kim can't live her life this way anymore," the tipster continued. "She wants a happy, healthy husband and not someone she's constantly worried about." According to this so-called source, Kardashian was willing to do "what she has to do, hoping it forces Kanye to get the help he so desperately needs," even if it means divorcing the "Closed On Sunday" rapper.

This story was false a year ago and it's still false today. At the time, Gossip Cop reached out to several people close to the couple, including Kardashian's rep, and no one confirmed the story. Kardashian's social media postings also negated the tabloid's tale. In April, she tweeted her support for husband. "To the media trying to demonize my husband... your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary," she wrote. "So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair." This wasn't the first time West created controversy with his tweets, and Kardashian seems like she's used to it.

Star has stretched the truth before when it comes to Kardashian and West's marriage. The publication falsely reported West was forcing Kardashian to quit her show and join him on the road to preach religion. Gossip Cop pointed out that there was little in the article that provided proof of this claim. We also reached out to West's rep, who called the tabloid's remarks "nonsense."

In Touch, Star's sister publication, also felt the need to pile more rumors on the Kardashian-Wests. It claimed momager Kris Jenner forbid Kardashian from moving to Wyoming with West and the kids. The reason the tabloid gave for Jenner opposing the move was the fact that Kardashian would have to quit Keeping Up with the Kardashians in order to make the move. Gossip Cop debunked the story, explaining that Kardashian could easily film while in Wyoming. Also, Kardashian has said that the family's $14 million Wyoming ranch home would mostly be for weekends and holidays. A little bit of research goes a long way, not that these tabloids would know.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
