The cover of one of this week's tabloids claims Kim Kardashian is divorcing Kanye West following the rapper's recent announcement that he's moving to Chicago. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story. We've learned it's entirely untrue.
West announced last week that he's permanently relocating to his hometown of Chicago, despite his family being based in Los Angeles. The following day, the rapper posted a series of Instagram videos in which he ranted about the recent rumors that his wife hooked up with Drake. According to In Touch, the reality star is exasperated by his behavior and is officially leaving him.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Moving to Chicago is a huge slap in the face, and there's nothing else left for Kim to do but to end the marriage once and for all. That was the ultimate betrayal: getting up and leaving Kim and the kids and announcing it to the world."
The magazine goes on to say that West made the decision to move back to his hometown after getting into a major fight with Kardashian over the social media speculation that she cheated on him with Drake. The reality star denied the rumors, which emerged after fans theorized that Drake's song "In My Feelings" is in reference to her. "Kanye confronted Kim about Drake and demanded she tell him details," adds the outlet's supposed source. "Kim denied any physical contact with him, or anyone for that matter, but Kanye was incensed."
The questionable tipster further contends that Kardashian has "reached her limit" with her husband's behavior, and is "terrified that he could do something drastic" after she files for divorce. "He may say he wants to take the kids to Chicago with him, but that's never going to happen. Kim wants full custody." The seemingly phony source concludes, "The only bright spot, if there is one, is that Kim is relieved that the divorce is finally going to happen. It's been a long time coming, and now it's finally over."
The tabloid's cover story is poorly timed. The same day it hit newsstands, Kardashian posted a flirty comment on one of West's Instagram photos, which completely discredits the claim that she's preparing to divorce him. Meanwhile, People reported last week that while Kardashian won't be moving to Chicago with her husband, the reality star "plans on spending more time" there. The reliable celebrity news outlet further noted that Kardashian "will be supportive of Kanye's plans" regarding his living situation.
It's also worth noting, the spouses already own a home in Chicago, so it's not as if the rapper is fleeing Los Angeles and looking to purchase a new property. TMZ explained that West and Kardashian are keeping all of their LA properties, but the rapper plans to move his Yeezy offices to Chicago and make the house they already own there his primary residence.
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with the rapper's rep, who tells us on the record that the tabloid's cover story is "totally false." Kardashian isn't divorcing her husband because he's moving to Chicago. She's also not upset that he posted Instagram videos addressing the rumors about her and Drake. In fact, the rapper made those videos to defend his wife's honor. There's simply no truth to the tabloid's account of the situation.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
