Is Kim Kardashian spending millions on security now that she and Kanye West have moved into their Hidden Hills home? A tabloid is claiming to know the lengths to which the reality star has gone to feel safe. Gossip Cop looked into the claims.

According to OK!, Kardashian has “gone to extreme measures to secure” her massive estate, which the gossip magazine dubs “Fort Kimye.” It’s specifically alleged that she’s “so ‘obsessed’ with safety that she spent a whopping $3.5 million on the home’s security features.” The process supposedly began when Kardashian “hired a former Homeland Security honcho,” contends a so-called “source,” who claims there’s now a “100-person team that includes former special forces soldiers.” Yeah, that doesn’t sound unrealistic at all.

The outlet goes on to assert that Kardashian was told to “install bulletproof windows” and create “safe rooms.” The alleged tipster claims one such security room connects to a “private underground tunnel that emerges half a mile away at an undisclosed location.” Nowhere does the supposed snitch or the publication explain how, legally, Kardashian would be allowed to do that. Regardless, it’s further claimed the “KUWTK” star is also relying on “hundreds of hidden cameras, invisible lasers, drones to do daily aerial surveillance and five highly trained guard dogs.”

“Kim is now one of the most protected people in the world. She doesn’t want to be a hermit, but she will ensure her family are safe, at any cost,” the specious “source” tells the tabloid, which adds that, consequently, “friends are worried she’s turning into a recluse.” That claim is actually laughable, given that Kardashian remains one of the most photographed people in the world. Though she did lay low in the aftermath of the Paris robbery, which took place more than a year ago now, she’s hardly been in hiding in recent months.

And while it is true Kardashian upgraded her security in the wake of last year’s horrific crime, no one genuinely connected to her would go blabbing to a gossip outlet about all the safety features of her new home. For many security tactics to be most effective, they’re typically kept secret, not told to the world in a national publication. Also, some of the specific claims, such as the “100-person team” and “underground tunnel,” are beyond “extreme.”

Indeed, when Gossip Cop investigated, one contact found a lot of the assertions here to be “absurd.” Kardashian’s rep also told us the story was “ridiculous.” And we’d be remiss not to mention this is the same outlet that last year galling suggested Kardashian’s robbery was a “hoax.” Now the publication is seemingly trying to exploit the situation. The star’s home is undoubtedly secure, but this article is greatly embellished.
