Is Kim Kardashian really using a $23,000 Hermes pocketbook as a diaper bag? That's what a certain tabloid wants readers to believe, but Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.
"OMG! Saint Has An Hermes Diaper Bag," blares Life & Style about Kardashian's 18-month-old son. According to the story, the reality star decided to "splurge" and now "rarely leaves home without her XL Hermes Birkin bag (which sells for up to $23,000), which she uses to lug around Saint's supplies." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "She says her children deserve nothing but the best."
The gossip magazine's supposed snitch continues, "Kim doesn't think twice about carrying diapers in a bag that most people could never afford." But Kardashian supposedly believes "Saint has to be one of the world's most pampered children," contends the alleged tipster, who further claims the reality star and husband Kanye West "want everything that touches Saint to be treated special, even a diaper bag that will eventually be tossed in the garbage."
Tellingly, though, while the outlet claims Kardashian "rarely leaves home without" the designer diaper bag, the publication doesn't have a single picture of the mom of two with the luxury item. And while she definitely owns some Hermes Birkin goods, the tabloid hasn't provided any evidence that Kardashian uses one for Saint's needs. Gossip Cop suspects Life & Style only crafted this story because Kardashian previously admitted to using one years ago when North was a baby, and explained on her blog in March 2016 how she uses such a bag to carry all "essentials" for herself and North.
But a lot has changed and happened since then. Most notably, Kardashian was robbed at gun point in October, and as she's made clear in the months following that traumatic incident, she no longer flaunts or steps out with high-priced accessories. So why would she be using a $23,000 diaper bag in public? That would only make her a target again. "The story is false," a rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop.
This tale also reminds us of another outrageous article the magazine tried peddling just over a year ago. In that piece, it was ridiculously alleged North had her own glam squad, consisting of a "wardrobe stylist, hairstylist and manicurist to doll her up every day," at a cost of "$5,000 per week." The claim was "absolutely false," and Kardashian has indicated that she doesn't spoil her kids nearly as much as the gossip media likes to believe.
Gossip Cop cannot come to a verdict either way.
