A story about Kim Kardashian having “drama in the delivery room” is mostly sensational and not true. With the reality star expecting her third child via surrogate, a tabloid is trying to capitalize on the hot topic by purporting to have insight on what’s going on as the due date nears. But Gossip Cop exclusively has what Kardashian’s own rep says about the claim and can explain how this report is mixing facts with falsehoods.
First, it’s important to point out the gossip media has a long history of trying to exploit Kardashian and her family, especially when it comes to their brood. In 2013, for example, Gossip Cop busted In Touch for falsely claiming Kanye West was “refusing” to be present when Kardashian gave birth to their daughter. And in 2015, we called out OK! for fabricating a cover story about Kardashian’s “dramatic delivery” with her second child when she was actually still very much pregnant.
Now for Kardashian’s third child, In Touch is maintaining it knows the “fights, fears and tears leading up to the birth.” The jumping-off point is Kardashian saying last month that surrogacy is “so much harder” than pregnancy. The outlet is using that real comment to build a whole narrative about the famous mom struggling. “From uncomfortable tension with the woman who’s carrying the baby and arguments with [West] over cameras in the hospital to fears she won’t bond with the baby, the stress spiraled out of control,” contends the publication, which suspiciously switches back and forth between the past and present tense. That’s likely because the tabloid isn’t actually sure when the baby will arrive.
“There’s been drama throughout Kim’s baby process and the delivery will be no different,” a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying. Among the issues, claims a supposed “source” for the magazine, is that West objects to filming the birth while Kardashian is “trying to convince Kanye” to allow cameras. But Kardashian didn’t have the births of North or Saint filmed in the delivery room, so it makes little sense to assert that she suddenly wants it captured now when it’s a private citizen, whom they’ve not publicly identified, who is giving birth.
Another purported “source” goes on to allege Kardashian has been “crying on a routine basis” because the baby “feels so physically distant from her,” as she’s supposedly been “unable to even form a bond with the surrogate.” The outlet then questions why Kardashian really didn’t have the surrogate at her baby shower, and the “insider” even predicts, “There will be major tension between them in the delivery room. The surrogate doesn’t even want Kim to be there at this point… Everyone is fearful a fight could break out between them!” Yes, the publication that wrongly speculated in October that Kardashian’s surrogate was having twins now wants readers to believe they could actually have a brawl while the woman is giving birth.
Look, it’s quite likely Kardashian is emotional right now, and it’s probable that some of her nervous anticipation will be featured on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Kardashian admitted she was “anxious” before Saint’s delivery two years ago, and even though she’s not the one pregnant this time, she’s already made it clear that the process has been stressful for her. But it seems In Touch is just taking that truth and greatly sensationalizing it for the sake of a dramatic story.
In addition, it also seems apparent that the tabloid is fudging some of the alleged details, such as Kardashian wanting cameras to film the birth when she never did that before. And besides being wrong about the circumstances surrounding North’s arrival, as noted above, the magazine has proven several times this year that it’s still without informed “sources” and “insiders.” That’s why it ran multiple stories in 2017 about West and Kardashian divorcing. Gossip Cop is told that the same outlet that cannot accurately report on the couple’s marriage is also not accurately reporting on the birth of their third child. Most significantly, unlike the tabloid’s untraceable “source,” a rep for Kardashian further tells us on the record that the “delivery room” article is “false.”
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
