Kim Kardashian did not meet with Donald Trump on Wednesday because she's secretly preparing to become First Lady, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively shoot down an absurd claim that alleges the reality star's "real reason" for meeting with the president in the White House was that she "dreams" of becoming the First Lady. The story is provably not true.
In the real world, here's the Washington Post's take on the reason Kardashian met with Trump: To discuss "sentencing and prison reform." For some time now, Kardashian has been moved by the plight of Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old great grandmother who was a first-time, nonviolent drug offender and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibly of parole. Quite specifically, Kardashian met with Trump to lobby for a pardon for Johnson, who has already been behind bars for 21 years in Aliceville, Alabama.
Before her meeting with Trump, Kardashian told Mic, "I've been fighting very hard and am willing to do what it takes to fight for what's right." She's even hired famed attorney Shawn Chapman Holly to work on Johnson's case. Additionally. Kardashian has been working behind-the-scenes with White House senior adviser and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, who's been spearheading a criminal justice reform bill.
But, according to RadarOnline, Kardashian had "selfish motives for her high-profile White House visit." The often disproven outlet quotes an unnamed "insider" as saying, "Kim wants nothing more than to be First Lady when her husband Kanye West runs for President." The same seemingly phony or ill-informed source adds, "Kim wants to show the world that she has what it takes to do this role, and has a cause to champion that Americans can relate to." "She does believe in prison reform, but not as much as she believes Kanye has a chance at winning the 2024 election," concludes the unidentified "source."
Of course, for Kardashian to potentially become First Lady, a few things have to happen first. For example, her Trump-loving husband has to make a bid for the highest office in the land. It's true, West has announced he's running for president in the past. West also cryptically tweeted 2024 last month. But the rapper actually has a long road ahead of him before possibly moving into the White House, including winning his party's nomination and then defeating his opponent.
And also, Kardashian would probably have to still be married to West. Interestingly, RadarOnline, which publishes a lot of provably false stories about the reality star and her husband, seems to have forgotten that earlier this month it swore up and down that Kardashian is "strongly considering" divorcing West. Oddly, the newest tall tale from the website makes no mention of that.
As opposed to buying into the website's untraceable tipster's theory, Gossip Cop will take the primary sources's words. Following her meeting with Trump, Kardashian tweeted, "I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson." "We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson's future and hopeful that she — and so many like her — will get a second chance at life," Kardashian expressed in a subsequent tweet.
For his part, Trump tweeted, "Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing," along with the photo above. Neither the president nor the reality star shared anything about getting pointers on becoming First Lady. Still, Gossip Cop reached out to the reality star's rep, who literally laughed out loud about the blog's tall tale about Kardashian's "selfish motives" for visiting the White House on Wednesday.
Conclusion: While RadarOnline claims it has an unnamed "insider," who knows Kardashian's actual "motives," the Washington Post and literally every other legitimate outlet reported Kardashian met with Trump to talk prison reform and lobby for Johnson to get pardoned. But it wasn't just noted media organizations that stated her intent. Kardashian herself shared the purpose of her visit to the Oval Office in interviews and on social media, as did the president of the United States. And even though it was already proven that Kardashian's trip to Washington was to help Johnson, Gossip Cop still checked with her spokesperson, who couldn't contain her laughter over the blog's premise. For those reasons, we're giving the outlet's claim that Kardashian met with Trump because she's preparing to become First Lady a 0 out of 10.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
