Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen are not feuding, despite a tabloid report. There’s simply no truth to the story. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to a phony article in this week’s Star, Kardashian and Teigen are “no longer on speaking terms.” The outlet quotes an alleged “source” as saying, “Chrissy and her husband John [Legend] were best friends with Kim and Kanye [West],” but the relationship has soured since Kardashian “began getting praise for working on prison sentence reform.” The reason, according to the so-called insider, is because “John fumed that Kim didn’t give him any credit for teaching her about the subject.”
Legend has long been an advocate for sentence reform, and Kardashian famously met with President Donald Trump in May 2018 to champion the release of Alice Johnson, a convicted drug trafficker who has been a symbol of the movement for years. President Trump granted Johnson clemency a week after meeting with Kardashian.
According to the tabloid, Legend was upset about Kardashian getting so much praise for her work in getting Johnson released from prison, as he wanted some acclaim for introducing the reality star to prison reform. A questionable insider says Kardashian’s close friend Teigen “took her spouse’s side and promptly severed ties with Kim.”
The timing of the magazine’s bogus story is very off. Why exactly would Teigen end her friendship with Kardashian more than a year after she met with President Trump and helped Johnson get released from prison? In the time since Kardashian received praise for her work, she and Teigen have shared dozens of positive social media exchanges. And in an interview with People magazine in May, Teigen called Kardashian’s newborn son “beautiful” and said she “couldn’t wait to meet” him.
The genesis of the phony report also likely comes from the fact that while Legend and Teigen have been outspoken critics of President Trump, West and Kardashian have been on better terms with the polarizing leader. That narrative also rings hollow, as the political disagreements have not fractured the friendship between the two couples. Teigen even told Vogue magazine last year, “I loved that they were able to have this civil discourse. Kanye learned a lot in the months after that. John did, too.”
Still, Gossip Cop ran the magazine’s story by a spokesperson for Kardashian, who tells us on the record that it’s simply “not true.” There’s no feud with Teigen. This isn’t the first time the tabloids have tried to make this political disagreement something bigger and more personal than it is.
Last year, after West shared text messages of Legend criticizing his support of President Trump, Star’s sister outlet, RadarOnline, falsely claimed Kardashian and West got into a fight over him sharing Legend’s texts. Gossip Cop busted that story when it first emerged. There have been many friendly interactions between the couples in the time since.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
