A story alleging Kim Kardashian is “battling severe anxiety” after an attempted burglary was shamefully made up. Gossip Cop has confirmed with a rep that no one close to the reality star shared such personal information. We can not only bust this story, but also explain how it came about.

As Gossip Cop reported, a thief tried to burglarize cars outside Kardashian and Kanye West’s home on Friday. The suspect was never on the couple’s actual property or near their house, as the vehicles were parked at the front of the driveway. The culprit was scared away when the stars’ security guards approached. The incident took place just over a year after Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. Now HollywoodLife is trying to link the two unrelated events in order to exploit this new situation. And since the burglary attempt was a hot topic after the news broke, the webloid is trying to score traffic by pretending to know how Kardashian is doing in the aftermath.

“Kim Kardashian Battling ‘Severe Anxiety’ After Bel-Air Burglary: It Triggered PTSD From Paris Attack,” reads the headline. The site claims it has “EXCLUSIVE details” on how the reality star is “seriously rattled by the recent attempted break-in at her Bel-Air home.” But that tells you right there that this story is bogus. There was not an “attempted break-in” at Kardashian’s home. As noted above, this failed crime solely had to do with cars and took place away from the actual residence.

Despite failing to get even the basic details right, the outlet claims it has a “source” who is divulging, “Kim is dealing with pretty severe anxiety right now. This ended well and everyone is safe but it’s triggered her PTSD. She’s experiencing the trauma from the Paris attack all over again.” The purported snitch goes on to assert, “Kim already has so much trouble sleeping at night, worrying about someone breaking in and this has just confirmed her worst fears.”

This would be an understandable reaction. Kardashian was even seen struggling with safety concerns and lingering feelings from the Paris robbery on a “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” episode earlier this month. So the claims are plausible. That’s not the issue here. The problem is that this “exclusive” is illegitimate. It’s a phony story that was manufactured, rather than a real scoop that actually came from an authentic Kardashian source. A rep confirms to Gossip Cop that no one would be feeding this blog information about any anxiety or PTSD she may or may not be suffering from.

And an insider we spoke with, talking on the condition of anonymity, even predicted that HollywoodLies would make up a burglary-related story just to get clicks. “They are a joke,” remarked our contact. It’s hard to disagree with that assessment. The webloid ended its article by asking readers if they are “worried about Kimmy as we are.” But if the site was truly concerned for Kardashian’s well-being, it never would’ve peddled a falsified report on such a sensitive topic in the first place.
