Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson are not married, despite a new tabloid cover that tries to trick readers into thinking the couple tied the knot. The actual story merely speculates they might be engaged. Gossip Cop can bust this deception.

The new cover of In Touch announces, “Khloe & Tristan Married!” The front of the edition promises to take fans “inside their quickie Malibu ceremony.” In the issue, a headline further leads readers to believe they’re now husband and wife by declaring, “Khloe’s Wedding Bombshell.” Contends the magazine, “Desperate for her happily ever after — and another baby — Khloe Kardashian decides to take the plunge with her cheating boyfriend.”

But then at the end of the first paragraph, the outlet pulls a switch. After luring fans with strong implications that Kardashian and Thompson have wed, most of the story is about them possibly walking down the aisle in the future. The misleading tale was sparked by a ring Kardashian has been wearing on and off lately. A so-called “insider” unhelpfully offers, “Everyone assumes it’s an engagement ring.” Shouldn’t an “insider” know one way or another?

It then becomes even clearer this supposed snitch only has theories, not facts. “She is planning a huge party in a few weeks, which she is saying is for her birthday, but my guess is that’s when she’ll tell everyone she’s engaged,” claims the alleged tipster. And though the outlet doesn’t actually have any proof that Kardashian is planning to get married imminently, it nonetheless speculates what could happen at a wedding. “It’s a recipe for disaster,” asserts a supposed “source,” who likens the situation to a “ticking time bomb.”

The publication even throws out various scenarios, such as Thompson’s paramours “crashing” the nuptials, Kanye West “making a scene,” and Kris Jenner “getting wasted and clashing” with Caitlyn Jenner. Considering their estrangement, though, it’s unclear why Cait would even be invited to this proposed ceremony. After all, just a few months ago, Kardashian said her relationship with Caitlyn won’t change, even as she becomes a mother herself. Even more absurdly, it’s said Rob Kardashian could bring his ex, even though Blac Chyna and Khloe Kardashian have been embroiled in a lawsuit.

Proving to be just as uninformed as the “insider,” the “source” also alleges, “There’s a rumor that Tristan wants [his ex] Jordan to attend with [their son] Prince, since he’s True’s big brother.” These “rumors” and “guesses” aren’t acceptable substitutes for confirmed information. Saying Kim Kardashian “could” skip the event is not particularly insightful. Still, the questionable “source” maintains, “The wedding is going to happen.”

It should be noted in late May that People reported Kardashian wants to marry Thompson “eventually,” but stressed “there are no serious wedding talks yet.” Around the same time, E! Online, which often serves as a mouthpiece for the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” family, similarly reported that Kardashian is “not rushing” to marry Thompson. And no reputable outlet has confirmed her ring represents an engagement, much less wedding plans for the near future.

In fact, in an “Entertainment Tonight” story last week about Kardashian’s ring, it was revealed, “Khloe is telling everyone she is not engaged.” It is, of course, possible that she and Thompson will end up making it to the altar. But it’s abundantly clear between the bait-and-switch cover and the sketchy sourcing that In Touch doesn’t have real details on the subject. That’s also evident when one considers that the magazine makes no mention of the $2 million wedding that Kardashian was supposedly planning in March.

Even more significantly, just two weeks ago, the publication insisted Thompson was feeling “dumped” because Kardashian didn’t even want to live with him. But now the tabloid is trying to dupe readers into thinking they’re married, or at least planning a “quickie” wedding. The publication can’t be trusted.
