Kesha released a lengthy statement on Wednesday explaining that her sexual abuse lawsuit against Dr. Luke isn’t about being released from a record contract, but to help other victims have the courage to speak out against their abusers.

As Gossip Cop reported last week, a judge denied Kesha’s motion to be released from her contract with music producer Dr. Luke, who she claims drugged and raped her. Dr. Luke has refuted the allegations, saying that the singer is lying to get out of her record deal.

On Wednesday, Kesha wrote on her Facebook page, “All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused. This case has never been about a renegotiation of my record contract… This is about being free from my abuser.” The singer added, “I would be willing to work with Sony if they do the right thing and break all ties that bind me to my abuser.”

Kesha further stated that she’s only one of many women who have been victims of sexual assault, noting, “This issue is bigger than just about me.” The singer also voiced her solidarity with young girls who might be “afraid that they will be punished if they speak out about being abused, especially if their abuser is in a position of power.” Kesha concluded, “I for one, will stand beside you and behind you.”
