Kerry Washington stopped by “GMA” on Thursday, just hours before the premiere of “Scandal.” The actress previewed what fans can expect in the show’s seventh and final season. Check out the video below!

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Washington last appeared on “Good Morning America” in May to tease the season 6 finale. She already knew the upcoming new season would be the drama’s swan song, but now the actress has finished shooting some of those final episodes, though she has no idea where Olivia will end up. Lara Spencer began by asking, “Is it really happening? Is it really the last season?” Washington confirmed, “As far as I know.”

“I have to say, we are having as so much fun because we know it’s our last season and we don’t want to leave anything on the table. We are really like going hard, going strong, big. We’re going out big,” Washington assured. But she couldn’t divulge any spoilers, explaining, “To be honest, we all are kind of guessing how the show ends, because we don’t know. We really don’t know. There used to be an ending that Shonda [Rhimes] had in mind, and then the real world of politics turned upside down. Who knows what it’s gonna be now? It’s crazy.”

Still, a clip from tonight’s episode showed Olivia clashing with Papa Pope, as they so often do. Washington went on to reveal a behind-the-scenes-tradition, sharing, “At the very start of every episode, I scream very loudly. I have no inside voice. I scream very loudly whatever episode number it is. So, ‘episode 7.01!’ And then we all bang and scream and yell, and it’s surreal because I remember doing it for episode 1.01, and here we’re back seven years later.” She added, “We’re closing in on the end. Every episode we finish, we know we’re getting closer to the end, which is so surreal.”

Asked what it will be like to film that final episode, the Emmy nominee admitted, “It’s kind of like people asking me what it’s going to be like to break up with a boyfriend that I’m still in love with. I don’t know what it’s gonna be like.” Looking ahead, “There’s a couple of different things in the works, mostly through my production company… It’s hard to think about what’s next, though, when you’re still waist-deep.” And to finish the chat on a positive note, she stressed, “Let’s just remember this is the beginning of the end. There’s a lot of fun to be had. Eighteen episodes. We’re not gonna disappoint. We’re gonna bring all the heat.” Check out the video below! NOTE: The video is no longer available.
