A new story promising “exclusive details” about why Kendall Jenner and Blake Griffin won’t be spending New Year’s Eve together is entirely made-up. The article is based on information that has already been circulating in the news. Gossip Cop can expose the deceptive report.

The Los Angeles Clippers forward was forced to miss the team’s last 13 games due to a sprained MCL in his left knee, but coach Doc Rivers said Tuesday that Griffin will likely return for the Sunday, December 31 game against the Charlotte Hornets. Now HollywoodLife claims to have “exclusively” learned, “Blake has been injured for a bit… but he is looking for New Year’s Eve to be the day he returns.” But there’s nothing remotely “exclusive” about this tidbit.

Still, using this premise, the outlet writes in a headline, “Kendall Jenner Alone On NYE: Why Blake Griffin Won’t Be With Her For Midnight Kiss.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying that the NBA player “may have to meet up with Kendall later than expected” because he’ll be playing on New Year’s Eve, “or not spend the holiday with her unless she goes to the game.” Once again, this is an obvious statement, not proprietary inside information.

The Clippers’ schedule has been publicly known for months, with a home game listed on the calendar for New Year’s Eve, so it hasn’t been some secret that Griffin would have professional obligations that night, nor is it some kind of scoop to assert that’s why he may not be around for a “midnight kiss.” The blog is trying to pass off readily-available information and conclusions any person could rationally draw as revelations.

It’s also worth noting that Sunday’s game, which is being held at the Staples Center in L.A., is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be over well before midnight, so the couple could potentially meet up before the ball drops. Regardless, Gossip Cop is assured that no one in Griffin or Jenner’s inner circle is speaking to HollywoodLife about their relationship. This is yet another example of the unreliable webloid concocting a supposedly “exclusive” report out of common knowledge. The couple’s New Year’s Eve plans remain to be seen, but the webloid clearly has no unique insight into them.

This also isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to call out the site for making up a story surrounding the NBA player’s recent injury. Earlier this month, we debunked the webloid’s report alleging Jenner feared that the “Kardashian curse” would be blamed for her boyfriend getting hurt. This latest article is more fiction from the repeatedly discredited outlet.
