Is Kendall Jenner refusing to appear with Kim Kardashian in public again after they were awkwardly laughed at during the Emmy Awards? That's what one of the tabloids is claiming. Gossip Cop has learned the story is made-up.
At last month's Emmy Awards, Kardashian and Jenner received some unwanted giggles while presenting the Competition Program award. Kardashian introduced the category by telling the audience, "Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people, just being themselves." The line elicited a spattering of laughter throughout the crowd, which was immediately noticed by people on social media.
According to the National Enquirer, Jenner was so humiliated by the situation that she no longer wants to appear with her sister at any public events. "Kendall Won't Stand By Kim!" reads a headline in the latest issue of the magazine. The accompanying article quotes an "insider" as saying, "Kendall has worked super hard to be taken seriously as a model and separate herself professionally from Kim and the rest of the family. Now all that hard work has been erased." The anonymous source adds, "I guarantee you won't see Kendall with Kim at a public event for a long time."
The tabloid's article is based on claims from an untraceable tipster, but Gossip Cop reached out to Jenner's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's "so false." The model isn't ashamed by her sister or anyone else in her family. Jenner, who still frequently appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, isn't attempting to distance herself from her famous family. The incident at the Emmy Awards, which wasn't a particularly big deal, hasn't changed that.
It should be noted, Jenner shared an Instagram photo of her and Kardashian on Emmy night the day after they presented at the awards show. If she were so embarrassed by getting laughed at while on stage, it's hard to believe she'd be reminding fans that she and her sister attended the show together. The tabloid is taking a minor issue and attempting to create a major controversy out of it.
The Enquirer has a poor track record when it comes to reporting about the model. Back in May, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly alleging Jenner was to blame for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show no longer being televised. The decision to no longer air the show on TV had absolutely noting to do with the model. Meanwhile, the magazine alleged a few weeks ago that Kardashian was getting a $600 million divorce from Kanye West. That's clearly not happening. The tabloid simply comes up with fiction about the famous sisters.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
