Kendall Jenner may be the world's highest-paid model, but she's also a member of one of the most talked about families in pop culture, meaning she's dragged into plenty of phony tabloid reports about the Kardashian-Jenners. Although she's been involved in some family drama on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she's also been at the center of nonexistent fights created by the tabloids. Here are a few of the stories that Gossip Cop has busted.
This past March, Life & Style claimed Kendall was feuding with her sister Kylie after Kylie learned that Kendall had supposedly hooked up with her then-boyfriend boyfriend, Travis Scott, before they had started dating. Although Kylie and Scott have since separated, the "betrayal" drama was still fresh in KUWTK fans' minds after Kourtney Kardashian's boyfriend cheated on her with one of Kylie's best friends shortly before this rumor emerged.
While we can understand how the magazine came up with the rumor, we can't understand how the outlet even considered the claims remotely true. The tabloid, after citing a mysterious and unnamed "insider," claimed Kylie had found "provocative photos" of Kendall and Scott, and said her sister was "dead to her." Gossip Cop checked with Kendall's rep, who clarified that the whole premise was fiction. Kendall and Kylie weren't feuding and continued to interact on social media. Considering that the two have shown no signs of fighting in the months since, it's clear the story remains bogus.
In July, Life & Style incorrectly called an Instagram caption from Khloe Kardashian proof of Kendall cutting ties with the Kardashian family. Khloe posted a picture of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters with the caption, "Nothing like a photo with ALL my sisters!" She made an additional comment remarking how difficult it was to gather everyone in one place at one time. It's a surprisingly mundane caption — gathering five siblings that are each busy with their own families and careers is indeed a challenge.
Unfortunately, mundane doesn't sell magazines, so the tabloid turned the story into one of self-exile and drama. A totally anonymous insider filled out the bulk of the rumor by adding claims about Kendall focusing "on her career and her life" and cutting off the Kardashian side of the family to escape "constant drama." The only drama, however, was the made-up conflict from Life & Style. Gossip Cop reached out to Kendall's rep, who called the whole thing "nonsense."
Just a few weeks ago, the National Enquirer capitalized on Kendall and Kim Kardashian's somewhat awkward presentation at the Emmy Awards by publishing a phony story about Kendall refusing to publicly appear with Kim ever again. The two presented the Competition Program award, and Kim had a line about the Kardashian-Jenner family knowing that "truly compelling television comes from real people, just being themselves." The line drew unwanted laughter from several members of the audience, which supposedly humiliated Kendall. "I guarantee you won't see Kendall with Kim at a public event for a long time," a supposedly reliable "source" told the outlet.
In reality, however, Kendall had posted pictures of her and Kim together after the incident had occurred. Kendall's rep also dismissed the story, and the model has been seen with Kim multiple times since then - including wishing her a happy birthday with a series of loving photos on social media just this week. The tabloids once again place more focus on forcing Kendall into their latest issues than they do fact-checking.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
