Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest have been co-hosting Live With Ryan & Kelly for two years now.  The tabloids have been making up phony stories about the on-air partners for just as long. Here are a few wrong rumors about the duo feuding that Gossip Cop has busted.

In June 2018, the National Enquirer ran a story with the headline “Fed-Up Ryan Leaving ‘Live,’” and purported that Seacrest was ready to quit the show because Ripa had a “domineering diva-tude.” According to the outlet, the two were battling over popularity, and Secarest was annoyed because his co-host “only cares about ratings.” The tabloid claimed Seacrest was receiving “little public support from her,” despite Gossip Cop highlighting a time that Ripa called it a “privilege” to work with her co-host.

At the time, Gossip Cop cited numerous examples of why the story was false, including Ripa telling the New York Times that Seacrest was the “future of the franchise.” There was simply no basis in truth for the magazine to accuse Seacrest of threatening to leave because he wasn’t getting along with Ripa. More recently, in an August 2019 interview with People magazine, Ripa spoke about her strong connection with Seacrest, noting, “I get to work with one of my very best friends.” There is nothing “diva” about that.

This past March, Life & Style invented a similar story about Seacrest leaving the show. According to the tabloid, Seacrest was thinking of bailing on “Live” and “blindsiding” Ripa. Of course, the outlet couldn’t help but contradict itself when it claimed Ripa “flat-out asked him if her planned to leave.” That implies she wouldn’t be blindsided. Regardless, nothing about the story was true.

The magazine also hedged its tall tale by adding that Seacrest had a contract that prevented him from leaving the show before the term of the deal is up. While that much is true, there’s nothing factual about Seacrest trying to break that contract or quit his talk show gig. As Gossip Cop has pointed out time and time again, Seacrest isn’t planning to quit.

Just a few months later, Life & Style, was back on the case, but this time it was Ripa who was upset with her co-host. The outlet published a report alleging Ripa was angry about Seacrest’s new romance with model Larissa Schot. For good measure, the magazine also included Seacrest’s mother in the made-up report, alleging she too was bothered by Seacrest’s new love interest.

Gossip Cop pointed out at the time that while Seacrest was seen making out with Schot, they were not in a serious relationship. Indeed, in the months since, Seacrest has reunited with on-again-off-again girlfriend Shayna Taylor. He even announced on Live that they were, indeed, a couple again. Life & Style arbitrarily came up with the idea that Ripa was upset about Seacrest dating a young model, but his relationship with Schot was very short-lived. Just like the other stories, it was totally false.
