Kelly Ripa was not against hiring Ryan Seacrest as her “Live” co-host, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively reveal that the claim about Ripa being “livid” that she was paired with Seacrest is simply fake news.

The absurd story comes courtesy of RadarOnline. The often disproven sites alleges in a new article that Ripa did not want Seacrest, and was angling for “someone she could boss around.” While the outlet throws out the allegation, it offers no proof or even the names of people she would have preferred to be her cohost. Instead, the webloid simply makes claims about Ripa preferring a cohost who was not as “big of a star as she is.”

Before Gossip Cop gets into what our investigating uncovered, let’s examine how illogical the site’s allegations are. As well-documented, Ripa was very upset when Michael Strahan left “Live” for “Good Morning America” without giving her much advance notice. Part of her anger was directed at ABC for orchestrating Strahan’s switch. Are we really to believe that the network now blocked whomever Ripa wanted to be her co-host and forced her to work alongside Seacrest?

Notwithstanding how implausible the RadarOnline story is, and how genuinely happy Ripa looked when announcing Seacrest as her “Live” co-host, Gossip Cop still checked with sources close to all the parties involved. And guess what? Many referred to the site’s article by the droppings left by various farm animals, mostly horses and bulls. A Ripa source tells Gossip Cop she was “overjoyed” he accepted the offer. Meanwhile, an ABC insider confirms, “Kelly was in charge from the beginning and glad everything worked out with [Ryan].” Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Ripa for an official comment.
