In support of education, ABC, FOX, CBS and NBC teamed up to air a one-hour star-studded telecast about the future of high school. The program was conceived by the XQ Institute and the Entertainment Industry to raise awareness about the importance of secondary education and higher learning. Part of the initiative is “rethinking” schooling to better prepare kids for college. While many stars, ranging from Jennifer Hudson to Samuel L. Jackson, were at the Santa Monica-based event to participate live, Clarkson actually pre-taped her performance.

As Gossip Cop reported, Clarkson was on the “Today” show Friday morning, performing a free, outdoor concert for hundreds of screaming fans in New York City. Her four-song set featured two old favorites, “Stronger” and “Walk Away,” along with her two newest songs, “Love So Soft” and “Move You.” Both of those tracks just came out on Thursday, with “Love So Soft” serving as the lead single from the singer’s upcoming album, Meaning Of Life. The record is Clarkson’s first since Piece By Piece was released in 2015.

Clarkson is also featured on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly, which declares “Kelly Clarkson Is (Still!) Our Idol.” It was actually just the 15th anniversary of Clarkson’s big “American Idol” win a few days ago. Notably, she’ll be joining rival music competition “The Voice” as a coach next year. “A lot of people that I know, especially from ‘Idol,’ don’t necessarily want to be singers or artists; they just want to be famous,” Clarkson told EW. “That is not going to bring you happiness.” She also revealed that she didn’t actually want to win “Idol,” and explained that working on the NBC show is a better fit for her family right now, as husband Brandon Blackstock manages Blake Shelton.

Prior to performing, Clarkson dedicated her performance those in Houston affected by Hurricane Harvey, just after Justin Timberlake extended prayers for those in the path of Hurricane Irma. Check out the video below!
