Keith Urban is not cheating on Nicole Kidman with a mystery woman, despite a late and wrong report that Gossip Cop already debunked. We can once again set the record straight on the supposed marital drama. There's no truth to it.
Earlier this month, a retired teacher named Ruth Reed picked up Urban's tab at a Wawa convenience store in New Jersey after the country star's credit card was declined. Reed later said in an interview that Urban was accompanied by a woman who he said was his "sister." But the singer doesn't actually have a sister, which caused confusion about the situation.
Last week, In Touch published a bogus story claiming Kidman and Urban were headed for a split after she learned he supposedly lied about the identity of the woman with him at the store. Here's what happened. The country's star rep explained to Gossip Cop last week that the woman with him at Wawa was his assistant. "Well 'assistant' is awfully close to 'sister,'" the singer's spokesperson joked. "It was his personal assistant. He was there with his tour manager as well." Reed simply misheard Urban.
Instead of fact-checking, OK! Australia jumped to the conclusion that Urban must be cheating on his wife with a mystery woman. The magazine insists that the musician "might have some explaining to do" to Kidman, adding, "Though store employees have conirmed that the 50-year-old was, in fact, there with another woman, it's unclear who she actually was." It was his assistant. The outlet adds, "The fib might not sit well with Nicole as the pair's marriage has been on shaky ground recently." That's not the case either.
Earlier this week, Urban brought Kidman on stage during his concert in Chicago, during which she planted a kiss on his cheek and waved hello to the crowd. And more than a week after Urban's trip to the convenience store with his assistant, Kidman shared a funny Instagram photo of her husband recording a song in the bathroom of their hotel. It's clear there's nothing remotely "shaky" about the couple's happy marriage.
It's worth noting, the American version of OK! is equally guilty when it comes to publishing false articles about the couple's marriage. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Urban gave Kidman a career ultimatum because she was supposedly more focused on her work than their marriage. Naturally, the actress hasn't quit show business and the spouses are still very happily married.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
