Keisha Renee Voice Knockouts

Keisha Renee performed “Love Can Build A Bridge” in hopes of making “The Voice” Top 12 during the Playoffs on Monday. Check out the video below!

The Playoffs follow the Blind Auditions, Battles and Knockouts as the NBC music competition’s fourth phase. At this point in the game, the coaches have narrowed their teams down to five artists each. Now during the Playoffs, they’re allowed to bring one eliminated singer back as a “comeback artist” for six contestants total. That’s the good news. The bad news is that during this round, the coaches then have to cut their teams in half. Only three artists from each team can make up the Top 12 for the live shows.

Competing for one of three spots on Shelton’s team was Renee. As Gossip Cop has reported, the aspiring star is a strong singer with a predilection for country music. As seen just last week, Renee covered Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” for the Knockouts. She was praised for her “flawless” vocals and even told that she’s a needed face in country music right now. Tonight, Renee hoped to continue along that journey with “Love Can Build A Bridge” by The Judds.

In rehearsal, Shelton gushed, “It’s so exciting for me, the possibility of your voice being on the radio on a country music station. Look at me, I’ve got goosebumps.” But he warned her not to put “too much icing on the cake” during the verses, saving her ad-libs for the choruses, where she could “turn the beast loose.” That vocal beast was certainly loose on the stage. “You are the bridge of gospel and country,” Jennifer Hudson said afterward, urging Shelton to keep her.

Adam Levine amusingly said that although the country superstar is “dumb” in many ways, “I’m not sure he’s dumb enough to let you go.” The coach himself told Renee, “This is what I envisioned back in the Blind Auditions, you bringing these kinds of moments to this show.” While that feedback certainly suggested Renee had a good shot at being one of three Team Blake members left standing, she had to wait a few minutes to find out her fate. When the time came to deliver the results, Shelton named Renee as the first of his final three, along with Red Marlow and Chloe Kohanski. Eliminated were Mitchell Lee, Esera Tuaolo and comeback artist Natalie Stovall. Watch the video below!
