“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” never featured O.J. Simpson, despite a report that claimed he may join the reality show. Gossip Cop busted the false story a year ago. Now 12 months later, it’s clear our debunking was correct.

On March 21, 2017, Gossip Cop called out the National Enquirer for ridiculously claiming Kris Jenner wanted Simpson to have a story arc on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” if he was paroled from prison. It was specifically said the family matriarch wanted the former football player on the program to “address rumors” about being Khloe Kardashian’s “real father.” An alleged “producer” for the E! series was even quoted as saying, “If Kris wants to do a live DNA test with Khloe, we already have ads made up!”

For Simpson’s part, a so-called “source” maintained to the supermarket tabloid that he “would give top consideration to Kris for any TV offers.” These claims, of course, were absurd. Jenner was not considering giving a job to the man she believes murdered her close friend, the late Nicole Brown Simpson. Gossip Cop was assured by a source, who wasn’t at liberty to comment on the record, that there was absolutely no plan for Simpson to join “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Now 365 days have gone by, and time has proven we were right.

Simpson was released on parole on October 1. He has not done any television appearances since then, although Fox recently broadcast a years-old never-before-seen interview as a special called “O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession?” Meanwhile, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” wrapped its 14th season earlier this month. Never was Simpson mentioned in any of the episodes that aired since his release.

It’s also worth remembering the falsehoods the gossip magazine spread following this original story. Just days later, the outlet went from claiming Simpson may appear on “KUWTK” to alleging Jenner wanted to create a separate reality show for him. But then that August, after parole was granted, the publication abandoned those narratives entirely for a drastically different tale.

In a cover story, the tabloid maintained Simpson was vowing to “cut up” Jenner and “make her pay” for supposedly contributing to his downfall. As a result, the magazine alleged the Kardashians were on “red alert,” with Jenner spending a “fortune to protect herself” from him. To be clear, the outlet wanted readers in March of 2017 to believe the pair was plotting to work together, but then months later, people were supposed to believe Simpson was targeting Jenner for violent revenge and she was fearing for her life. Well, not only did they never team up for TV, but he never launched an attack on her in the time since, either.

It got even stranger in November, a month after Simpson was let out of prison, when the publication alleged he was spending his time binge-watching the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” What’s readily apparent through all of these inconsistent reports is that the National Enquirer is seemingly determined to keep Simpson connected to the Kardashians, one way or another, even if reality doesn’t match its fiction. That’s why Gossip Cop will continue to separate what’s real from what’s rumor as necessary.
