One of this week's tabloids claims a romance is developing between Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry. The claim isn't true or original. Gossip Cop already debunked dating rumors surrounding the two last year, and their relationship hasn't changed in the time since.
Last May, Life & Style falsely claimed Reeves and Berry started dating while working together on John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. An alleged insider told the outlet that the co-stars planned to go public with their relationship once production wrapped. Of course, that didn't happen. Additionally, the phony article was written just a few weeks after the movie started shooting, and Berry had only spent one day on set at the time it was published. A source close to the actress also assured us last year that she and Reeves weren't a couple.
The magazine's sister publication, OK!, has now published yet another bogus article about the co-stars. A supposed source tells the tabloid that Berry has been crushing on Reeves "for years," and "working together gave them the opportunity to get to know each other better." The suspicious tipster adds, "They hit it off, and it's fair to say the attraction was mutual."
The magazine goes on to say that Reeves and Berry "kept it professional on set," but they're taking their relationship "to the next level" now that they've wrapped filming. This is very different than what the outlet's sister publication said last year. Still, the seemingly phony source continues, "They've been flirting up a storm, exchanging texts and emails. No one would be surprised if they started dating soon!"
Gossip Cop once again checked in with a trusted source close to the situation, who wasn't able to go one the record, but tells us Reeves and Berry's relationship is just friendly and professional. They weren't dating while filming John Wick 3, and they're not about to start dating now that production has wrapped. The timing of the magazine's latest story is also suspicious. The first trailer for John Wick 3 was released last week and it immediately went viral, with more than 20 million people having watched it so far. It seems the outlet is simply trying to capitalize on the popularity of the film's trailer by arbitrarily linking the stars of the movie.
It's worth noting, OK! claimed just last week that Sandra Bullock was considering leaving her boyfriend for Reeves. That made-up story made no mention of the actor being involved with Berry. The tabloid seems to be coming up with new storylines as it goes along.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
