Katy Perry slammed Taylor Swift on Twitter on Wednesday, seemingly taking Nicki Minaj’s side in the two stars’ MTV Video Music Awards-related feud, and calling Swift’s side of the argument “ironic.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Minaj went on a Twitter spree on Tuesday ranting about “Anaconda” not getting nominated for Video of the Year at the 2015 VMAs, and about “Feeling Myself” not getting any nominations at all. Meanwhile, Swift led the pack with nine nominations, including Video of the Year for “Bad Blood,” and Minaj’s tweets on the subject included what many interpreted to be disses against Swift. “If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well,” wrote the rap star. She went on, “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”

Swift felt targeted by the remarks and wrote to Minaj, “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Minaj later denied that her tweets were in reference to Swift, and questioned why she was being branded the bad guy.

Perry entered the fray on Wednesday, tweeting, “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…” The comment seemed to be a reference to Swift’s success with “Bad Blood,” which is widely assumed to be a rift with Perry. Perry also went on to say, “The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1… @MTV.” Perry and Rihanna, of course, are close pals.

As Gossip Cop reported earlier, other stars have also weighed in on the drama, including Piers Morgan, who penned an entire column on why he believed Minaj was out of line. Tell us what you think of Perry getting involved in the controversy below.
