Katy Perry is pregnant and having a "shotgun wedding" with Orlando Bloom, according to a new report. Gossip Cop, however, can exclusively correct this claim about the "American Idol" judge and her actor boyfriend. We're told it's completely untrue.
According to the National Enquirer, Perry and Bloom "have a secret plan to swap vows" because she has "a bun in the oven." As supermarket tabloids and unreliable websites tend to do, an unnamed and untraceable "source" is then quoted in an effort to make it seem the outlet has legitimate information from an insider. In this instance, the magazine's supposed tipster says, "Orlando has been dropping hints about them starting a family for a while, and it's no secret Katy can't wait to be pregnant with his baby."
The publication then reiterates how "insiders" believe Perry "may already be pregnant." "They're both being very coy about it," asserts the anonymous tipster, before adding, "Katy is telling everyone she wants to enjoy their engagement for the moment." As for where this purported "shotgun wedding" will take place, the same seemingly fabricated "source" contends, "Katy and Orlando are considering romantic destinations everywhere from California to Italy to as far away as Japan." Basically, the tabloid is guessing they'll wed in North America, Europe, or Asia, and has eliminated a few other continents, including Antartica.
Towards the end of its article, the publication proves it actually knows nothing about the couple when it writes, "According to sources, Katy was blown away by Orlando's beach proposal." But they didn't get engaged on a beach. As Perry told Jimmy Kimmel about her engagement to Bloom on his late-night show, the actor popped the question after dinner one night on a helicopter.
Not only does that fully shoot down much of the tabloid's credibility, but the "American Idol" judge herself discussed having alcohol three times during that TV appearance, which proves she's not pregnant. While on the talk show the day after the Oscars, within the first 36 seconds of her appearance, Perry told the host, "I am so hungover," and admitted she and Kimmel's sidekick Guillermo "actually did a shot of tequila before the show starting taping today." Later, while describing Bloom's proposal, she noted how on the helicopter he accidentally knocked over their champagne.
And just a few days later, while sharing an Instagram story of a dinner she had in New York with her "American Idol" colleagues Ryan Seacrest, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, one could see Perry had finished off a glass of red wine. Clearly, she's not pregnant. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with Perry's rep, who assures us the tabloid's tale about a "shotgun wedding" is "absurd." Also, a mutual friend of ours and Bloom, who wasn't authorized to speak on the record, similarly says the claim is "untrue."
Bear in mind, this latest work of fiction is coming from the Enquirer. It's the same outlet that maintained in late January that Bloom was having a secret affair with Jennifer Aniston, his longtime platonic pal. Within just three weeks of that phony tale, Bloom and Perry not only attended Aniston's 50th birthday party together, but the two had also gotten engaged aboard a helicopter, not on a beach.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
