Are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom really planning for a wedding and a baby? Those are the claims coming from of the tabloids, but Gossip Cop is told the story is off-base. In fact, comments from Bloom himself show he and Perry have not yet decided to make that kind of commitment.
The inaccurate narrative can be found in the pages of In Touch, which alleges Perry and Bloom are “planning to marry this winter and start a family immediately.” A so-called “source” quoted by the gossip magazine claims the on-and-off couple previously broke up because the actor “didn’t feel ready to settle down.” But it’s alleged he has now “done a complete U-turn on getting married and having kids.” The outlet maintains Bloom “doesn’t want to lose Katy again,” which is why its supposed snitch asserts he will “do whatever it takes to make her happy.”
That apparently means tying the knot and having a kid. Additionally, the purported tipster also contends the British star would “love” for his son Flynn to “have a little brother or sister.” Actually, he already does. It was just reported that Flynn’s mom Miranda Kerr gave birth to a baby boy earlier this week. It’s strange that the publication’s “source” is acting like Bloom’s son would be sibling-less unless his father has another child when it was known for months he was going to become a big brother in due course.
It’s also telling that even though it’s claimed Bloom and Perry are “planning to marry this winter,” there’s not a single detail provided about any actual wedding plans. Furthermore, it was announced last week that “American Idol” has been renewed with Perry set to return as one of the judges. As a result, she’ll be spending this fall and winter filming the auditions and Hollywood Week round for the next cycle, before the new season goes live in the spring. It’s unclear where having a child would fit into that schedule.
Additionally, while People recently reported that Perry and Bloom are dating exclusively again, with their dynamic seeming “more serious” than in the past, the reputable magazine said absolutely nothing about the pair committing to one another with a marriage and children. That’s because, Gossip Cop has learned, their future doesn’t hold such plans at this time. While a rep for Perry did not return a request for comment and Bloom’s spokesperson declined to speak on the record, Gossip Cop is told by a contact close to him that it’s “not true” he and Perry plan to marry this winter and start a family.
More significantly, he himself has even indicated their future together is up in the air. Speaking with The Times of London in an interview published less than two weeks ago, Bloom said of Perry, “It’s difficult. She’s on tour, I’m doing a play, everything evolves.” He added, “I have a lot of respect for her and a lot of deep feeling. So we will see.” Typically “everything evolves” and “we will see” are not signs that someone has agreed to a wedding and kids.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
