Are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom really headed for a split because she’s more rich and famous than him? That’s the untrue claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
“Orlando & Katy: Trouble In Paradise,” reads a headline in the latest issue of Star. The accompanying article says the newly engaged couple may never make it to their wedding because the “imbalance in their celebrity status” is creating a conflict.
“Orlando may be crazy about Katy, but the difference between their earning powers is a recipe for disaster, and everybody can see it,” says the magazine’s supposed source, who goes on to say that the actor is worth around $40 million, while the singer has amassed a $330 million fortune. “Orlando wants to grow his career, but Katy’s the one whose star just keeps rising.”
The alleged insider continues, “It’s a strange situation for him to be in, watching her get bigger and bigger when he could use another major movie role.” The seemingly phony tipster further contends that Bloom’s friends are warning him “not to rush into the wedding and to make this a long engagement where they can prove they work as a couple.”
The tabloid’s article doesn’t make much sense. Why would the disparity between Perry and Bloom’s fame and finances all of a sudden be an issue? There’s nothing to suggest it’s ever been a problem in the past, so how exactly does getting engaged change matters?
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who wasn’t able to speak on the record, but assures us the outlet’s report is fabricated. We’re told the happy couple is going strong and the differences in their star power and bank accounts isn’t something they’ve ever thought about.
Unfortunately, Star has been trying to break up the couple ever since they announced their engagement last month. Just last week, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for falsely claiming Perry’s friends feared her relationship with Bloom was going to end over the actor’s “partying.” The story was baseless.
Shortly before that, Gossip Cop busted Star‘s sister publication, the National Enquirer, for maintaining the real reason Perry and Bloom are getting married is that she’s secretly pregnant. The singer is not expecting a baby. Meanwhile, the magazine’s other sister outlet, Life & Style, insisted last July that Perry and Bloom’s romance was “on the rocks” over distance and busy work schedules. It’s clear the gossip media has zero insight into the couple’s relationship.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
